    the two parties that own 75% of the McLaren company have advised Ron Dennis his contract will not be renewed for 2017. Ron owns only 25% of McLaren.

    I can completely understand his reluctance to give up position and control, but a more rational head might think that after some years with no major sponsor (as per the article), years with very average F1 results, years in control, and the major partners really dont want you, it would be time for an amicable handover? easy to say, i know....

    yep, that seems pretty clear.

    i am thinking that this:

    He did not want to step down and failed in a High Court bid last week to prevent McLaren putting him on 'gardening leave'.
    is probably the sort of attitude that lead to this:
    It was felt Dennis' autocratic style was ill-fitted to growing McLaren in the future.

    Yes and also along similar lines, the falling out he had with the other 25% share holder (I think He has 25%also) put him in the minority camp and the falling out with Merc, resulted in years of poor performance, did not help his cause either
