Default Verstappen promoted to Red Bull - Kvyat demoted to Toro Rosso

It's been confirmed overnight the Max Verstappen will replace Kvyat at Red Bull effective immediately.

Kvyat will apparently finish the season at Toro Rosso alongside Carlos Sainz Jnr.

I'm half hoping Kvyat wipes out several Red Bull/Toro Rosso cars at the first corner.

He has been royally screwed over...

I suspect the deal was already done and they were waiting til after the Russian GP to announce it, rather than as a result of Sunday's race.

The rumours few weeks back had the driver swap happening at the end of this year, but looks like Kvyat gave the management a reason to do the swap early.

    For those who missed it

Given it happened so soon after the previous spat with Vettel and Kvyat, it appears it did not go down well with the Red Bull management.

More on the topic from Horner

Edit:- I have also read an interview with Marko Helmut re the driver change and apparently there has been lot of tension at Toro Roso (not limited to the drivers) and two of the engineers have left after Russia. Apparently they ignored team orders re tyre selection in Qual. and things did not go well so the boss was dirty. I haven't seen that interview in the English speaking press yet but you can always right click and select translate to English here:-

i think we can now agree that, Yes, promoting Verstappen to Red Bull, was a good move.

i also have a strong hunch that intra team relations are mercedes have not improved.

Seeing as Ricciardo got quite royally screwed over by the strategy, I'd be picking the Red Bull intra team relationship isn't exactly cozy either.

Sir Jack had the right idea. Build a team, build a car and drive it yourself!
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............

That was when one could still win with a reasonable budget. Red Bull budget is at 468 million Euros. Mercedes and McLaren budget being very similar with Ferrari close behind them followed by the budget also rans .
