    Default Question about racing weights

Im sure its pretty obvious, looking through the improved production manual, it makes reference to a minimum racing weight when a late model vehicle has certain modifications.

can anyone clarify what that weight includes or excludes? it is purely the gross mass?

A late model car, ie built after 1/1/86 as per 1.15, if fitted with a different 1600-2000cc engine/head as per 17.5, would have a minimum race weight 1045Kg. That means everything on the scales, except you.

Thus it's pointless running a 16V 205 in IPRA. You may as well run an Mi16 or 306.

Depends if your 205 has an earlier than 86 plate. Like the one we have! Then you can run 2.0 16v and 750kgs...

Where did you find a <86 shell? The only one I knew of was the 1.6L GTi I sold to John T.

yeah just wanted some clarification, mine is 1990. i was more looking at it for the point of running in supersprint, but i guess that limits me to the sv class doesnt it?

While building Cam & Pat's shell, I got confirmation from the IP National Administrator that a 205 could be built to early regs despite first being sold in Aus in 1987 because production started in Europe 1984.

just came across this bit of info re: weights, it was in the touring car regs.

really im just looking to make an entrance into the sport, at the same time i wont have to add a tonne of ballast i just wont be as competitive. i'll be keeping it as a road car so i'll just go in the supersprints so no cage for me as per their regs for registered cars

That's good news. It also means then, that 205's can enter the <86 class in CSCA Supersprints.
