    Default F1 rumour mill

Alonso is rumoured to have a performance related clause in his McLaren-Honda contract, giving him a way out of it.

Alonso's manager, Flavio Briatorea is rumoured to be trying to find a place for Alonso at Red Bull

Helmut Marko has again stated that Red Bull will leave F1 if they cant find a competitive engine.

Ruomours have Ferrari supplying engines to Red Bull, Toro Rosso, Sauber and the new US team - Haas.

Mercedes is expected to be supplying Williams, Force India and Manor is also rumoured to be trying to get access to Mercedes power plants

Early rumours had Red Bull chasing a Mercedes engine, but Mercedes have indicated that they will not supply Red Bull with engines

Nothing like politicking and rumours in F1

It's still on the table, but no decision has been announced either way. I would be surprised if we don't have a firm decision by end of next month.

With Lotus at the back of the field (with a competitive Merc engine), I think Renault will find it real tough to claw forwards, if they take over Lotus, as their engine was rumoured to be 40 hp down before the latest engine upgrade from Mercedes at the last round at Monza.

Having time to sit and review last night's Singapore GP, took note of F1 commentator Tom Clarkson's little piece on what's happening, it was quite interesting and seemed to be fairly factual rather than guesswork:

Audi/VW will be buying the Red Bull team in 2018, Red Bull will be the major sponsor, Christian Horner the team principal.

Red Bull will be using Ferrari engines 2016-2017 as an interim measure, until an Audi power plant is available.

Renault definitely not supplying engines to Red Bull 2016. Renault will be buying the Lotus team. He believes that Roman Grosjean is probably leaving Lotus and going to the new US/UK based Haas team, which will leave a spare seat at Renault.

So a couple of new players in the field by the look of it.

A VW engined Red Bull is an interesting idea. Wont VW be busy with the 500,000 cars they have to recall in the U.S. first?
It'll be good to see some new players in F1 though - especially with Red Bull throwing Renault "under the bus".

Yes, but it proves they have the capacity to cheat a little bit - which is always the "game" in motor racing!

Yeah, but the trick is to get away with it, they need more practice.

If Alonso does leave McLaren the seat at Lotus could be his!
There is also talk of Button leaving McLaren as well.

I am sure Lotus would have him, if they could afford him, but I cant see Alonso wanting to go to team that's not a championship contender. IMHO he is more likely to leave F1 if he cant improve his championship chances. In Today's race at Japan he called their Honda engine a GP2 engine in frustration over the team radio. Apparently that did not go down really well with the Honda management, particularly in Japan.
