    Default McLaren - Honda

Both McLaren - Honda drivers will face grid penalties at Spa for the use of their 7th engines this season

Something like 55 places combined as a penalty. Why bother turning up?
As it doesn't carry over to the next race they will start in the two bottom grid places.
I get the penalty idea but to my way of thinking it just makes the Mercedes more untouchable. They have had dominance for two seasons. Really, how much are they they threatened by a team with a collective total of 17 points ( with one world champion in the team*)
    ...........

I just read that McLaren will ramp up the issue with more new engines for a couple of sessions this weekend so that they absorb all their penalties now at Spa.
    Tactics or fair?

As far as McLaren goes, any penalties will be academic, but if it's within the rules, why not I say.

Interestingly in the last race at Hungary both cars were in top ten finishers, their best result so far this year, Alonso was 5th and Button 9th so perhaps they are finally finding some speed
