Default Robert Kubica testing for Monaco - OOpps

Robert nearly did it again and we haven't even started racing yet. Should we refer to offs as doing a Kubica?

i reckon Kubica might be well advised to do some testing in another area of motorsport.

the difference is that Kubica does that several times in every rally, and is still an also-ran in the overall positions.

Oh Dear! You could say the same for all but three of the other 100 odd entries. Don't you like him?

unfortunately for Kubica, that is completely untrue.
last year, there were 15 drivers in WRC. the others you refer to are not driving WRC cars. of those 15 their total points at the end of the year is shown below, followed by the number of events they competed in.

what you will notice is that of the other WRC drivers who competed in all 15 events, the second worst won 44 pts. kubica was the worst and managed only 14 pts. in fact, that was the second lowest points score of all the WRC drivers (chris atkinson was the lowest), even when you count those who didnt compete in all events. Ott Tanak wasnt even driving WRC IIRC. he was in a WRC2 car i think.

Kubica crashed in all or nearly all events, and several times in most of them. he puts in some good stage times occasionally, but he only does it by a/ driving too fast for his ability and b/ then sometimes getting lucky by not crashing. if he has another year like last, i reckon he will be lucky to have a next year at all. in WRC anyway.

at the monte carlo rally last weekend, there were 16 WRC1 starters. 14 finished. 2 crashed so badly they DNFd. one of those was, would you believe it, Kubica. and i believe he totalled the car after a flying finish on a stage! hopeless. seriously... when kubica crashes in practice, that is in fact exactly what he is doing.

I was referring to the number of also-rans, Alexander. An also-ran in Rallying is anyone who doesn't win the event. Two or three of the competitors in most events are really good, the rest are hopefuls. Obviously Kubica's employers can see something in him that you can't. Perhaps you think you should have his seat?

oh well, mince words about vague terms if you like, but the stats make it plainly obvious.
Kubica is out on his own as a non performer in WRC.

Can spectators get into the middle where the cars are like on track days?

i dont think so. the teams seem to have their own closed off areas at the service centres. i imagine it to like other pro racing; competitors can see some things from the adjacant areas, but noone can just wander willy nilly through your own area. mind you, the service areas seem fairly open and WRC.com shows a fair bit of tv footage of cars being worked on. unlike F1 where it is all very secretive (and much more technology driven).

b the way, i dont suppose you are really in Angola, unless temporarily, but what's with the link to an online viagra seller in your signature!?

I knew he had crashed more than few times last year but I didn't realize he was this accomplished.

"Kubica has since crashed on all but one of his top-division outings in the World Rally Championship."

oh yes. he is an expert! the really odd thing is that he really blitzed WRC2 the previous year (ie 2013), but has been completely unable to adjust to the faster WRC cars. i really thought he might come through as an Ogier rival, but instead he is the worst WRC competitor by far.
