Thanks for the heads up Jeff, will give a Verada driver a message.
Twice had his 'steeds' ended up lame in my driveway; blown gearbox in a 13B PP RX4 wagon (We have no shame!) and a Turbo MB 190E with "MASSIVE" oil blow by ie Fecked rings, all of them! Try for thrice with the Pig Trotter, his SWMBO wants to pass the VR-X onto him and get something more comfortable and 'Cool for School'.

NEWS UPDATE! The Verada may have it's last 'Leg stretching' as there is a new toy in the garage. Ford XR8 Green Meanie/Goblin, not sure of the specs but it has a real gearbox selection mechanism (A novel item in this day and age of 'flappy paddles'!).

Will remind Ian to do so, last event was a success after the brake upgrade. Pig trotter 380 front discs (300mm diameter) and big twin piston caliper with QFM comp 3 material. Fresh Super Dot 4 fluid and stopped well all day. Haven't been advised if he's going yet.
    See you there Jeff.

I got my entry confirmation last night. Only 2 Ians listed, both in MX5's, so doesn't sound good.

May have done a dodjy re-spray in 'Ultra Stealth Black' and therefore the entry doesn't show up?

Jeff when are the results available? Just to give confirmation of the improved PB, got to spread the work and wind up the interstate drivers.
Hope the pilot/passenger in the Alfa is OK after the big shunt down Dandenong Road. If possible can you post pictures, just to show how safe a modern car is in an accident.

Quite an eventful day! A Lotus Exige & RX8 collided, a classic '70's Alfa rolled and an Alfa 156 totalled in the same place where Lee Holdsworth KO'd the armco in the Erebus Merc in the Sandown 500 the week before.

My day was boring in comparison but with the changes made to the car improved my best times by 5 1/2 secs! Did a 1:28.77 & was 4th fastest under 2 litre car & 14th fastest overall of 86 cars.

Thanks for that Jeff! Awesome video and the 405 sounds so crisp with the different diff ratio.
The Alfa 156 had a huge prang, the profile of the guardrail was clear in the right rear quarter panel! Very ! Driver OK and only due to having a current type vehicle...one very lucky green P-plate driver.

Now that sounds and goes like a 405 should. Very nice. I definitely wouldn't change 5th. Just raise the rev limit to 8250.

That extra couple of hundred kilos weight over a 205 really blunts the performance. The 5:1 final drive has made a huge difference. 8250 is it then!

What are the gear ratios Jeff?
I probably need to talk to you about building an XU9J4, I have recently found some 11.8 pistons and have had ITBs for a while now.
Now the Classic Outback Trial (good run, 10th O/R) is over I need to look at more speed for the shorter rallies.

OK, seemed closer than that, must be the final drive that makes a difference.

I was using the same 3rd-5th but with the Mi16 4.43:1 final drive. The 4% larger wheel/tyres I have to clear the Brembos made it struggle, hence the change over to the Bacci final drive. The difference between the final drives & tyre diameters is about 14%.

You need to run your harness tighter.

Gearbox seems to work well. Congrats on the improved times

    Hi Jeff,

    Dry sump on yet?
Looking at the Australian dollar movement I should have ordered one.

    Good pick up-will do.

Not dry sumped yet. Haven't got it yet & it's been about 5 weeks since ordering. Undecided if I'll fit it to this engine anyway or keep it for the new one.

Exchange rate has slipped about 6 cents.

You make it look very easy to clock under 1:30 Jeff. Well done!

Four cars totalled sounds terrible. It was a good weather day too as far as I remember it because I was driving up to NSW on the day.

After the disaster of Phillip Island, I was looking for and got a trouble free day and there was no one more shocked than me when I saw my lap times.
