Default How much to buy a seat in F1

Caterham is allegedly selling F1 seats for $200,000 per round during the rest of the year. There are apparently some qualifications apart from the money, such as having a super licence.

Given that out of 12 rounds so far this year, each of their cars have retired 5 times, it may be bit of a punt to get to the end of the race.

Andre Lotterer made his F1 debut with Cateham at this years Belgium round at age of 32. If he paid the reputed driving fee, I wonder if he thought he got value for money retiring on the first lap.

He qualified 1 second faster than regular driver M Erickson so he appears to have mastered the car quickly.

bit of a shame the FIA wouldnt issue a superlicence to Sebastian Loeb a few years back, when he was offered a trial.
apparently it was lack of tarmac racing experience. plainly that doesnt seem to be holding him back in his first year of tarmac racing, in WTCC....
