Engine info which wasn't available at the time the 2008 DKR project was revealed-

    2993cc 60° V6 twin turbo, 24V, 340hp & 800Nm diesel, 5000rpm max, Sadev 6 speed sequential gearbox & diff, RWD.

The base engine is taken from the PSA parts bin & has seen service in the 407 & C5 road cars (DT20).

The Dakar technical regulations require that the base engine be an unmodified production unit. Changes are allowed to the turbo compressor along with the intake & exhaust systems and engine management but the internals are all standard.

Even the camshafts & fuel injectors are straight from the production line.

Anyone been watching.was expecting the pugs to be going better but with sainz out and peterhansel out of the 10, not looking good.
the aussie biker on the ktm is looking good, holding it together in fifth, hope he finishes there or better.

Well it was not peugeot's best rally with Peterhansel in 11th,too many mechanical issues and Sainz crashing out, hope they come back next year for another go. The aussie KTM rider Toby PRICE was outstanding in his first dakar, finishing third,a brilliant effort.

Regrettably I hardly saw any of the event. 5:30pm not an ideal time really. Seems the 2008's had quite a few problems. Was great to see Price up there in the bikes 'tho.

I'm really surprised this thread is still in the abyss of this section, when latest news about Peugeot effort in Dakar for 2016 is the arrival of 9 times WRC champion Sébastien Loeb in the team(news from this week)

It doesn't seem to interest any of you

Next week Loeb(codriven by his now friend Daniel Elena)and Carlos Sainz will drive their 2008 DKR in northern Africa/Morocco(Rallye Oillibya du Maroc)

They've continued to develop the car since last years Dakar and took out a 1, 2 in the Silk Road Rally in China recently.
It's wider, lower, less front & rear overhangs, more power, lighter wheels and tyres and even got a name change. It's now known as the 2008 DKR16.

Hopefully they can take on & beat the Minis this time.

It's official, the 2008 DKR is retiring from the factory team at the end of the season, and the 3008 DRK will replace it...

Peugeot-Sport published a teaser from the new car today and will reveal it for the Paris Motorshow at the end of the month
    http://www.facebook.com/peugeotsport

But no worry, all the 2008s should run the 2017 Dakar too(and even the rally of Morocco by start of october, for some of them)...

Fascinating. I hope it doesn't repeat the 206 WRC TO 307 WRC experience
