I've a feeling he will pull through albeit with brain injuries.

    Best wishes to him.

    I wish him the best.

But I feel for his son who was skiing with him.

It did slow things down enough that he wasn't killed outright. Here's hoping he recovers fully.

Apparently a helmet camera which Schumacher was carrying confirms that his was skiing relatively modest speed at the time of the accident contrary to some early reports. (Initially reported by French media after officials had taken possession of the film.)

His condition has slightly improved in that his life is no longer in danger, but he is still in coma. The source was his manager to Bild magazine.

Some articles I have read in Finnish media have stated that ideally Doctors do not like to keep patients in induced coma more than two weeks, due to potential complications. Schumacher is approaching three weeks, so it suggests that the injuries are extremely serious and recovery is at best very slow.

A sad reality that many have had to face. I still hope for that miracle recovery for Michael, but life doesn't often do what we wish so fervently.

German media have reported that Schumacher has contracted pneumonia. As he is in an already weaken state, the pneumonia is potentially life threatening.

terrible outcome and sad way to go, but it sounds like he has completely had it already, being that long in a coma.

He has apparently beaten the infection.. at least this time.

The investigators are looking at the possibility of the helmet cam contributing to the head injuries.

Lawyers had argued that managers of the ski resort might face up to three years in prison because the dangers lurking within the off-piste section were not properly marked.

    You've got to be kidding...

Here's hoping that if he recovers, not too much of him is lost.

I'm pleased to see Schumee is having moments of consciousness,I can't imagine what it would be like awaking after being out to it for a few months.

May good fortune rain upon him.

The Scandinavian news I have been reading are saying that his eyes have shown some reaction to movement in the room and when hospital alarms sounded the eyes seemed to turn in the direction of the sounds. Although positive signs, they are still baby steps.

yes, it's not looking good. and if he does make it through into some
sort of new life there may be the sorts of communication problems
that people with dementia have, ie how do those close to him know
what he's really experiencing, what are his real needs etc.
in his position I'd welcome scraps of life rather than nothing (I think),
but it must be a hard road for everyone concerned.

Last nights news said Michael had left hospital, but due to lack of official confirmation/information, other sources are skeptical of the news.

of course it is completely and legitimately her decision, but i am surprised at the lack of any detail at all other than "MS is out of a coma". i guess it means he is barely out of a coma, but some sort of comment on his condition shouldnt be giving too much away, surely?

Some of the articles I have read suggest that his level of "consciousness" varies. The lack of information suggests to me that Michael has a loong ways to go.

Michael Schumacher 'could be moved home within a month'

Andrew Marszal By Andrew Marszal9:37AM BST 22 Jul 2014

Michael Schumacher is able to communicate with his family by moving his eyelids, and could return home by the end of the month, according to reports.
The Formula One driver has been recovering in a Swiss rehabilitation clinic in Lausanne since June. He has reportedly made progress with his recovery since his transfer there from a hospital in Grenoble, France, to which he was initially taken after his skiing accident on December 29.

"There are signs that Michael will leave the clinic soon and be cared for at home," reported Swiss newspaper SonntagsBlick yesterday.
Schumacher's wife Corinna is believed to have transformed part of their Swiss home into a medical centre, including advanced medical equipment and space for full-time, live-in carers.

Meanwhile, the Mirror has reported that Schumacher is able to answer questions from his wife and children Gina-Maria, 17, and Mick, 15, by fluttering his eyelashes.

Doctors hope to have the Formula One champion – who remains in a state of paralysis – sitting upright in an advanced wheelchair which he can control via his mouth within weeks, the newspaper reported.

Sometime back Police were investigating the theft of Michael's patient information. Police have made an arrest in this matter. The suspect hung himself after the arrest. He was found on Wednesday. This seems like one on going tragedy.
