  1. Hey,
I'm not really "hotrodding" the oil pump. What I'm doing is trying to squeeze an extra 50hp out of my standard engine and then go around corners as quick as I can. The standard oil pump is ok for standard spec motor for standard applications. A modified oil system (not just the pump) is necessary for race applications as these engines suffer oil surge and starvation badly. The mod I'm doing adds 1L of oil to the system, baffles the sump, increases the oil pressure to allow for the extra 1500RPM I'll be spinning this to, and increasing the volume of flow to keep everything lubricated in harder-than-designed-for conditions.
You'll probably find that the "pug expert" didn't put something together right - easy to do on an Mi16 bottom end by the sound of things. I would have thought increasing oil pressure and volume should be well understood by a guy who builds drag engines for a living. I'm not just doing it for doing it's sake, if you know what I mean.
    Cheers for the heads up.

Hi-A good mate had his MI16 engine done up by a Pug expert-the second failure was cause by the "HOT RODDED" oil pump by the expert caused a TOTAL engine failure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The engine is now in S.A. being worked on by a very competent guy who builds engines from tractor pull donks to dragster donks-all in house save for the valves-His comments were the same as mine on inspection-Why on earth would you need to HOTROD AN OIL PUMP.
interestingly he has never worked on a pug motor @& is overwhelmed by the integrity of the 'standard ' motor.
