Default Question Regarding Status Of Poster..

OK... Just bellow my name where it says Fellow Frogger.. Or where Moderator, or super Moderator is positioned. Can we change that... I know in past forums, we have been able to by a Moderator. While in another, we could change it ourselves..

Can someone in admin, shed some light on this for me... I can understand that if you change it for one person, others would probably want there's changed to, so if you have want them all the same for that reason, then it's fine by me...

    Cheers,

I too would like to share my 2cents with all of you about the name thingy's.

I reckon if we allowed everyone to change them then their would be room for confusion & "extremly creative names".

As it is we have custom avatars, signature & some have logo signatures. I dont see the need for ANOTHER NAME & further creativness. The point of having tadpole, fellow frogger, moderator ect, is there to let people know about ones status on the forum.

One complaint on the current system is the fact you are a
tadpole from 0-50 posts (i think)
    Fellow frogger from 50-1000 posts
    guru-1000+

Why couldnt we have something in between 500-1000 posts??

If the purpose of these 'names' is to show ones status on the forum, then their should be something to distinguish 'member A' who has 60 posts & 'member B' who has 700 posts.

    What do you ladies reckon?

Is there room for more granulation ? The gap between 120 and 2000 is very large.

Why? How does number of posts relate to "status"??

The easiest thing to do would be to turn off the line that says how many posts a member has made. After all, who gives a s...,er , 'who cares' how many posts someone has made. It's the content of the posts not the volume of posts that should matter

I know that I for one am not too concerned about the number of posts someone has made. It's true, it is about the quality of the posts.

But, in the same instance, I can understand why some of the members out there that have done the hard yards and been with the site for quite some time, to have their 'status' within the forum recognised!

Soon people will be splitting replies up to increase their status by increasing their score of posts :-)

I reckon the only way to solve the problem is to calculate a complex figure based on the average spec level of Froggy cars owned with multipliers of age and current resale value to be calculated on a yearly basis. That way the True Believers who regularly buy a new high spec French car gain higher status!!

This isn't even a self serving opportunistic benefit for me to obtain higher status either, my newest car is 28 years old. :-)
