    Default I am DISGUSTED!!

This afternoon I was driving home from work and I noticed a beautiful Blaze Yellow GTi-6 next to me on Coronation Drive, Brisbane. As you all know, GTi-6s are pretty rare in Brisbane and me being a fellow Gti-6 driver, I was square with him for about 100m or so and I waved at him.

    MISTAKE!!!

He looked at me THEN turn his head to the opposite side and SNOBBED me!!

I am so disappointed...not even a nod or a smile from a fellow Peugeot driver!! What has the peugeot community come down to?? Don't we wave and honk or flash our headlights anymore?!?!?

Is the newer generation of Peugeot drivers 'think' they are better than you and don't bother to wave back??

    Cheers
    Billy

PS. the 1st 3 number of his rego is 013...I think....(it is kinda hard to remember details when in fury)

This is the joys of becoming "mainstream." You tend to lose your individuality.
I was waved at by a guy in a 505 in town today, and I don't even have a Pug but it seems the older the model, the better the chance of a wave unless of course the one coming towards you is some "trendy" in the 2CV in which case, CXs have big windows so we can always get a passenger to respond

I gave these instructions a couple of years ago on the Citroen Bulletin Board...guaranteed to work a treat.

    Step #1

See froggy approaching, slow down slightly so you aren't sitting too close to the car in front; gives the other driver good visibility....no excuses there.

    Step #2

Smile; big wide eyed...not too Jim Carryish and engage firm eye contact.

    Step #3

If no response, try a quick flash of the headlights to attract attention.

    Step #4

Raise hand from steering wheel to acknowledge; not too "Queen Motherish."

    Step #5

By now there should be some reaction but giving the benefit of the doubt, wave & flash simultaneously.

    Step #6

If no response, when they have reached an angle of 45 degrees, convert wave to "bird."

By this stage all hope of "The Wave" is gone, so as they draw level with the drivers window in gruff tones roar @R$0!E!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............and hope the lines of traffic don't all suddenly stop.

If nothing else, at least next time you'll get "some" kind of reaction.

On hindsight....I should cut him off and gave him the finger. Although I am not going the same direction as he was. He turned into Sylvan Rd while went straight ahead.

    Alan,

That is so true. I was expecting a wave or nod from this GTi-6 driver because I believed that this guy wasn't like the new wave of peugeot owners e.g. most young 206 and 307 drivers, and hoping this guy would know the Peugeot Ettiquette.

The more I now think of the incident the more I am!!

    Cheers

PS. I don't think I would AF sticker slap him next time I see him or the same car....he just don't deserve the prestige of the AF sticker.

Well I got a wave a few days ago from an orange 504.

An older couple in a 504 were not impressed with my wave to them a while back

Some tool in a 206 thought they would be cool and try to cut me off me into a curb TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. He may have been saying hello, but being an idiot about it.

I only just resisted the urge to make his rear bumper a permant addition to my front bumper.

Yes the newer pug drivers are mostly ignorant of their cars, but most people are. Its just a car to them, don't really blame them though, just the way it is.

I must admit that I only wave to pugs, will try to wave to other froggies

The wave is still around, just not the way it used to be

In my experience the 'friendliest'/most wave-y Pug drivers on the road are 405 Mi16s and 205 GTis

Stuck up trendy types will tend to be seen in 206s, and those who just want transport and happened to pick a Pug will usually be at the wheel of a 307

Keep waving ... don't be discouraged ... eventually they will get the message, even 206cc chicks do (when you wave HARD enough).

I still think the greatest piece of poetic justice would have to be in the town I live there's only two CXs presently on the road so you'd reckon it wouldn't be all that hard to constantly recognise each other.
Whenever I pass the other one, normally at least once a day as he works just up the road from where I live, I dutifully wave & acknowledge and am constantly greeted with a blank look and an expression of almost contempt that I gave him a wave.
A while back, on a rainy day, as we are driving down the road, out of the mist comes the rear end of this CX on the roadside with the bonnet up and as we approach a reasonably wet person looking remarkably like the one who usually snubs me pulls his head out from under the hood & waves, but Adrian promptly says to me "ignore the b@$+@rd like he usually does to us" which I obligingly do.
A few weeks later, I'm getting petrol when this car drives in and he decides to strike up a conversation of sorts which culminated with "I broke down the other week & gave you a wave but you didn't stop." To which I could respond "Oh was that you? To be honest I didn't recognise the car; but then you know what that's like don't you."
He's hardly missed a wave since.

Oh Alan, Isn't revenge sweet... As much as you would wnat to give to guy a hand. He did it to himself...

While driving back from the radio show i help with last night, i saw i nice white S16, pull up next to it look across.. No Movement, from the driver that was of Asian Apperance. Was funny seeing a French car with a fair few Jap Aftermarket stickers on it... (anyone know it. No. Plate. BB.306 on olympic plates)

Anyways, slowed down to to stay level with the guy, but never looked over.. So i didn't bother waving... As i don't have rear badges on my car maybe he didn't realise it was a pug...

Bit of a bummer, looked like a nice example of the S16...

    he he he..

i have to admit im kinda guilty of the overenthusiastic froggy wave!!

yep, most owners of the new pugs dont know their heritage and have no idea what ur going on about, but see an older pug/cit/reno, and u generally get a response.

years ago my flkatmater had a 205gti, and he wanted to be a bit "cooler" about the whole wave thing. he thought a normal wave was a bit boring so we invented "the universal sign of the P" (p for pug...)...

all you do, is when you see another pug approaching, extend your right arm up straight, then extend your left arm up and over your head, thus turning your body into a giant "p"...

much easier to do with the sunroof open.

dont know why it never caught on tho!?!

used to get some almighty strange looks, especially with a car full of enthusiasts doing it at the same time!!

I found that the most enthusiastic wavers were in my old Alfasud days. Though the new minis get a great response.

When I first bought my Micra (new) I got a decent number of waves, but not anymore, as I'm dealing with 2nd and 3rd owners nowadays.

With the Gti6 I'd get waves from other GTi6 owners, I wouldn't bother with too many others. I don't flash though, I turn my lights on and off again.

I've gotten waves from other 307 XSI owners as well.

It is annoying when you don't get a response, but how often do get a response from someone that has just cut you off and you honk and abuse them? Similar odds apply to waving.

I frequently instruct new Citroen drivers about the wave. I use the motto (as Alan has proven) "One day, that person may have the tool you need to fix your car"

Mind you with all the C3 and C5s on the road, I must look like I am swatting flies while I drive Actually chatted with a guy and his wife at traffic lights the other day - they are very happy with their new V6 C5.

i find it's the newer pugs that don't wave if they are in the average run of the mill models
    also other froggies don't wave
now how can a CX 2500 series 2 turbo driver not see a red 306 with a bloke near hanging out of the window waving at him ?????
i have seen him a couple of times in town here now and still nothing
is it normal for cit drivers not to wave to pug drivers ????
