Icon5 Pug diesels and Volvo Penta

I am currently looking at puting 2 x diesel engines into a boat they are given the name AQ40 by Volvo Penta they are a turbo 6 cylinder. They have a 92mm Bore and a 90mm Stroke and wet liner system. Would this be the same engine used in the 505? They are a mid 80s release. Does anyone know if any of the internal engine parts are interchangable?

These engines are rated at 165 HP if this sheds any light.

Obviously not, when did Peugeot have a 6 cylinder diesel?

I don't believe that Peugeot had a 6 cylinder oil burner in the 80's...
Based on that, I guess it's safe to say that the two engines are not the same

505 diesel was similar to the 504 diesel wasn't it? It was a 4 cylinder anyway.
I don't know of any car with a Volvo Penta engine. Even the diesel Volvos had Volkswagen engines. They were six cylinder though.

Default Pug diesels were tested by Volvo

Years ago a friend of mine here in Sweden (actually he was the chairman of Swedish Peug club) had two or three 504 diesel motors that he somehow got from the Volvo company in Gothenburg. Volvo had been testing and running these in some cars in the late 70s or so, but as we know they went over to a WV motor that really was a golf motor with two extra cylinders added. I owned a Volvo 240 diesel last year and they are not nearly as good as the 505 diesel or 504 diesel cars that I have had here. Volvo was thirsty and gutless (especially compared to the XD2). A neighbour has related a story about his friend in northern Sweden that drove a 504 diesel wagon with a big trailer on the back in his metal collection company, there was no problem driving and pulling heavy loads, but a little patience was needed on hills. One week the Pug was broken and he was loaned a new Volvo diesel in the hope of purchasing it; when he loaded the trailer as usual he couldn't get up the hills at all. Maybe the turbo ones are better though.
