    Default Clutch problem

Last night I was driving along in my 405, I took off very gingerly in first gear then shifted to second when I heard this snap and bam clutch pedal hits the floor. which at that point I had no clutch I pulled over to inspect. couldn't really see what the problem was... but im guessing the cheap shit plastic holding it together broke somehow. Anyway it's been towed off to the mechanics for the millionth time since I bought it two years ago. I think i've earnt a gold membership card with my mechanic.

    Hmm,

I'd say clutch cable. Last year I was driving the BX and a felt a little give in the pedel as I pushed the clutch in. "Remind me to order a new clutch cable in when I get home --just in case" I said to Ang who was in the car. Next intersection ......... Straight to the bloody floor .....

It's simple enough to change, just DIY. BTW: You can drive it home, just pick the revs to change gears (after you have started it in 2nd). That's what I always do when I break a clutch cable.

Sounds like it's time for a Heavy Duty Clutch Jason, Unless of course it's just the cable...

Mine's got a heavy duty clutch in it, and it's nice... Bit harder to get used to in city traffic, but it's all good...

I only changed the clutch last year... otherwise I'd bang a heavy duty in it.

I think it may have been the clutch cable...

It happened as one of my mates watched me drive off, he reckons he heard a snap...

we still got that cruise goin this sat Mitch??

Ouch, just found out that the clutch cable had snapped, he reckons the cable cost $150, + labour.

    Am I being jipped?

Why not just shop around locally?
Don't like seeing the local 'rough end of the pineapple' set getting a free kick.

$150... C,Mon that would have to include labour as well... If not, not only are you being jipped, but you're being taken to the outhouse.... Hasn't this happened to you before with a part???
