    Default Froggy with bite...

Now some Froggy cars are pretty pansy things...'

I mean, take a Renault 750 for a run up Bulli Pass some time.

Even one of my beloved 404s can have trouble passing a Falcon GT if the road isn't twisty enough...

But finding a Froggy with bite isn't easy. Especially if you don't like front wheel drive...

The V6 Pugs are a bit on the heavy side, the 505 V6 didn't sell here... it's not fair.

Look at this bloke... does he have bite?

    I wish he did...

If anything, he looks like he might have had a lil too much to bite already

More to bite than he could poke his tongue at.

Froggies with bite are few and far between.
On one extreme, there's the Venturi Atlantique, lots of Bugattis (how's a 1000bhp Bugatti Veyron for bite??), Chrysler V8 powered Facel-Vegas, insane mid engined Renault 5 Turbo's and Clio V6's. That rear drive enough? Don't think any of them came to Australia though.

More realistically, the Peugeot 406 SV with manual transmission can really move (like, around 8 seconds 0-100). Citroen Xantia CT's had monster in-gear acceleration. And then there's the 306GTi6, Xsara VTS and Clio Sport with 124kw-ish power, and brilliant handling.
And those BX 16v's are supposed to be mighty quick. They weigh, what, 1100kg? But they're all FWD.

For a quick rear drive frog, I think you'd have to slot an aluminium OHV V8 in a 504/505.

a nicely breathed upon PRV V6 in a 504 is something with bite and for RWD fans
in standard form the PRV V6 isn't too bad in a 504 but breath on them a little and they return the favour
even in a 604 with a little work they are nice
in standard form they are a very under streesed engine and there is a lot that can be done to them without losing reliability
and they are a very strong engine as well

Well Citroen always seem to have at least one 'grunty' vehicle at most time (all front wheel drive of course).

    Lets see:

SM --Quad overhead cam triple carby maserati engine
CX GTi Turbo --Low blow incredibly quick torquey beasty. Can be chipped to stunning power outputs (twisting driveshaft, blowing gearboxs etc, etc ).
BX16valve --Lightweight & freneticly quick, especialy in the Series I version.
XM 24 valve V6-- Very quick, near as fast as the CX GTi Turbo & BX 16valve series I

Currently there is the little pockets rockets, but no "proper" fast cars from any of them I guess.

I think Poogoe had the Mi 16, maybe a V6 in the 406, the little 205 but that's about it.

Renault has Gordini & Alpine, what else could you ever want

Fastest current Peugeot in terms of top speed would be the 406 Coupe 3.0 V6 manual - 240km/h, 7.8s 0-100km/h.

In terms of acceleration, the little 206 GTi180 would take the cake - 7.4s. Top speed is 220km/h.

the alpine is a mean looking beasty. I also want a renailt 5 phase II. I am a renault convert just by seeing those cars but i have never seen them here?! Would they incurr import tax or would they be wery Xpensive? Its just that they look so nice and I bet they are both hot. Never actually seen one in the raw. Am I too sheltered?
