Are the cars in the game equivalent to the models in real life by shell only, or do they actually drive/handle like REAL frenchies?

This is the question... 778 is a lot of different car configurations!

Wow, I hope all the models, sounds and handling are well done. So many different cars... I was'nt impressed with GT3 enough to buy a PS2... but this looks more like what I was hoping for.

But whats with the Crown Vic and Dodge Intrepid cop cars!?

O great looks like i'll be failing another year of uni now.

I love the gt range, gt3 was great just lacked cars, even the jap cars were too common in gt3. gt4 look like it's going to a top notch game.

I got a few screen shots

Well its hard to say, obviously it's not going to feel just like driving the real thing, but as far as simulations in the comfort of your lounge, at a fraction of the cost of a aircraft simulator machine it is quite good, great fun if you got a steering wheel and pedal set.

I have seen videos of the games creators driving cars to get a good understand of it's handling characteristics.

Sweet! I spent all of year 9 and 10 on GT2, luckily not serious schooling.

But GT3 didnt have enough cars to tempt me to buy a PS2 for it during VCE.

Still love the sound of that Vanquish on surround sound tho...

The list above was discovered to be nothing more than a pretty comprehensive wish-list. Ie......some 15 year old pimple factory just thought it up.

This is the only semi-confirmed list, compiled by people who have seen the cars in screenshots, and are assumed to be in the game, or have been photographed on GT4 photo-shoot days, or have been mentioned in interviews.

Thought that other list seemed a bit long. would have required around 50 DVD's to play it!

Not happy there isn't a GTi6 there, let alone any 306! And they include the pig 307 instead??? Bah!

Ahh yes, a proper one will set you back about $15M. They are brilliant though, just brilliant. Ironically the only thing disappointing about them is the graphics. A lot of the older simulators only have night graphics, the latest one have day graphics, but they're not quite there yet. The feel, instrumentation, etc is great. Throttle up on takeoff, you do get that kick in the back. Smoke in the cockpit, turbulence, roll the plane as fast as a F16 yeah no problem (although you can potentially throw the sim off its jacks)

All the controls, etc are real - in fact Qantas was using Ansett's 767 simulators after the airline's first demise. When one of the flight management systems wasn't working properly, they just went and pulled one out of their real 767s

Some people have actually built their own flight simulators with look alike cockpits & controls, some even with motion. A labour of love to pursue such as thing, no easy task at all.

Have to say, graphics in these games have really moved on - they look pretty good. The last driving game I played regularly was TOCA Touring Cars (1 & 2). That was great, you actually needed skill to drive the cars and they did feel different.

Actually the whole BTCC was great. Lots of well funded factory teams and a championship that actually had to be fought over right throughout the season. Pity we don't have that anymore.

Yeah toca2 was a great game, i love the green & gold 406, betcha loved the volvo didnt ya pug307.

Yeah british touring cars are Sh*thouse these days, with honda civic and other crappy cars racing. Plus most of the drivers from the good old days are driving v8 supercars.

Just remember what car was driven by the championship winner back in TOCA2's day For whatever reason, Peugeot has performed much better off road than on road (F1 & the BTCC weren't great to them). Renault did quite well though with the Williams Lagunas.

The beauty of the BTCC back then was racing was hard, and you have lots and lots of manufacturers competing. One of the things I like about touring cars is that there is some relevance to road cars, unlike F1 cars which basically look all the same, just with different stickers. The championships seem like foregone conclusions in comparison to the old BTCC.

One thing i will never forget about btcc is the sight of the two volvo stationwagon's in the lead side by side blocking of everyone behind them, mean stuff that. I actually had a strong feeling at that point for volvo's......Na sorry i didnt

Yeah pugs have been shocking road going race cars, except maybe le mans.

Im sure no one wants to be reminded of the days when peugeot supplied Mc Laren with F1 engines

Anyways back to the topic at hand, GT4 should be a great game can't wait for it.

That's dodgy. At least the 205 T16 will be in there, that should be a bit of fun to thrash around

You could argue the same thing about the ATCC...really, the current V8 series is becoming limited and irrelevant.

It's highly unlikely you will ever see any of the Gran Turismos on Xbox

In fact, aren't Polyphony (the developers) owned by Sony?

I think you are right Dtwo, i heard the same thing.

The only reason alot of people bought a PS2 is because of Gran Turismo.

I see xbox have also released a wannabe "grand theft auto" like game recently.

Is that why they want Avalons racing?

    Default GT4 on PC?

Thanks macquered for the feedback - I did think the list was long but here I am spreading rumours

And there I was looking forward to driving a 405 T16 pikes peak car just like Ari Vatinen with one hand shading my eyes from the sun

What about the rumours that they will release GT4 for PC?

I spent ages playing GT1 and GT2 but sort of skipped GT3. GT4 does look like it will be pretty awesome though.

    Cheers

As much as i'd love to see GT4 on PC.....I really think it's unlikely to happen
If it weren't for the GT and FF series.....there'd barely be any reason to own a PS2

I guess wheels and pedals seem cheaper for consoles at least ......
