Default So, how do you say it mate?

I found this thread on the VW Vortex forums (an American based VW forum with almost 120,000 members!).

Have a good laugh, there are some permutations there I hadn't even thought of XTC, time to add a few to the signature There's one I don't quite approve of, I'll let you discover that one.

This is how I reckon you should say it, watch the ad.

I think Citroen is pronounced as "Sit-roh-EN", but we generally just say "Sitrone" out of sheer laziness. Renault is generally "Renno".

But people find Peugeot so hard to say. Once, someone managed to say "Hol-denn"
Tsk, tsk, tsk....it's time we educate our fellow citizens!

I believe that is how it is pronounced. I too tend to be bit lazy with the pronounciation at times.

Yeah, I agree! But what chance do we have when they have trouble with names like Xsara. "Nice car that Sitrone Ex-ara"

I haven't come across too many people struggling with the Xsara & Xantia, but maybe I know too many car geeks.

Maybe that's why Citroen changed to plain old numbers. A bit hard to get C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C8 wrong, eh

Hey, you can't be serious in expecting Yanks to pronounce anything correctly. They have a huge amount of difficulty with the English language, can't expect them to master French.
