Default Oi! Did you nick my 505, squire?

    Who'd have thought...

Remember we had a thread a while back about 504's being bought up for the Middle Eastern markets? Well, I read in Classic Cars magazine the other day that there were 355 Peugeot 505's reported stolen in the UK in 2000, mostly stolen to order for the African market. That must be a significant number considering how many would still be on the road over there.

Weirdly, they chop the roof off, lay the seats down, and pack them in a container, then when they arrive, weld the roof back on. Oo-er...

Anyone for an African sourced 505, slight wind noise around the windscreen?

    yes
i remember reading about that a while ago in a paper somewhere and a couple of magazines and also a club magazine as well

they even showed pics of some of the cars that would found by the local plod in the UK after busting a car theft ring

they also had some 504's in the pics as well

they chopped the roofs off the car and then filled any spare spce up with any other parts they could find

from what i can remember the insurance for a 505 in the UK at that time went through the roof (pardon the pun)

And here I was thinking that I don't need to bother with a steering lock as "no one would want to steal an old pew-got" .

i don't think the pugs have hit the same status in this country yet nick so i'd say you are fairly safe

i think they hit the UK more as there are/were many more pugs there than there are here

Yes, I work at SBS, and, in fact, used to work in the videotape library, and know many people there. I may, on occassion, be able to get copies of programs. However, the best thing to do is to see if the program has been scheduled for a repeat. Let me know the name of the program and I'll see what I can find out.

SBS is also responsive than most other networks. If people write/call saying they want to see a program again, so long as we have the rights, it can sometimes be done.
