    Default C3/206 gearbox placement

    Hi Froggy folk,

My sister's C3 suffered today by being almost T-boned (left front wheel took the impact). Left front fender took the rest of it and front wheel was sitting at a 45 degree angle to the road. Both airbags deployed.

I know the insurance will assess and make a call as to whether it is written off, but I whilst they contemplate their position, I was wondering if anyone knows which side of the car the gearbox sits?

The left front wheel fell off when the towie pulled the car onto the truck. The front passenger door had also deformed and wasn't sitting flush with the body. All other doors opened as they should - strong little buggers. Other driver claimed she was doing 60km/h at impact.

Mostly I want to know if we are looking at a write off, the driveshaft snapped and I am curious to know if the gearbox will be affected.

Happy she was in the C3 and not something of lesser quality...

    Cheers
    Andrew

Gearbox will be on the left. Well it was - it's now more to the right!

From your description the car will be a write off. I reckon that the gearbox would be pretty well stuffed.

The body shell did what it was designed to do - absorb the impact and protect the occupants.

Pity about the car but it sounds like your sister is ok.

    Thanks Craig,

She is a little shaken, has a sore wrist, but otherwise ok.

It is a shame, it was a nice little car and she loved it. But like you said, car did as designed and we are all grateful for the integrity of our frogs...

    Cheers
    Andrew
