Default Keep your pre 1980's windscreens folks.

Just a general note to anyone who is giving cars to easy lift or sims, australia is running out of windscreens for 1980's cars like ours.
Not just windscreens I might ad.

We are virtually at the point where a windscreen replacement can mean a written off car so if you are in a position to save a screen, or offer the screen to some horder like me to save, you'd be doing future owners a favour by doing so.

    Cheers, Jo

All is not lost.... When we were investigating getting solar tinted windcreens for CX's ..... For about $800 they were willing to dust off the molds and make us the windscreen with there solar tint layered within. There was a once off "mold cleaning" fee (several hundred from memory), so getting several screens done in whatever configuration you desire is possible.

It might sound like a lot of money, but go get a quote for a screen for any modern car (eg: scenic).

Dad was even able to get a screen for the NSU Ro80 a few years back - same process as Shane mentions.

We were expecting to have to source one from Germany, so were very happy!

Considering I was just quoted $624 for a new screen for the 406 - it sounds like a good idea!

I wonder if the whole "tick the automotive glass repair" box on the annual insurance renewal has driven up prices...

Hmm, does a muso charge a wedding party double??

The cost of electrical energy would be a big factor with anything to do with bent glass.
