    Default New car suggestions please....

Right guys and girls due to me and the wife wanting a car that is cheaper to run (petrol/insurance/tax services etc) than the vz clubsport we have, I am gonna be tradeing it in around feb...

Anyway can anyone give any good suggestions/ideas on what I/we should get for around..$20k to $30k tops....

I/we are ideally after somthing that is quick ish (when it needs to be) 0/100 below 7 secs yet that will do 8 litres per 100 ish combined, would also have to be a 3 door hatch/coupe??

Me and the wife have a few ideas but want some more inspiration...

Oh and I still have my s3 gti, that is going no were, and I wont use it as a daily!!!

    In a word - no.

    0-100 under 7seconds AND 8 litres per 100klms in a coupe body....

    I gather practicality isn't required?

What about an Alfa 156 or 166. The 166 is a lot of car for the $$.

Renaultsport Meganes are NOT unreliable.....simple. This is from someone who has owned 2 of them and done well over 150000km between them. Dont believe the hype!

On topic though, don't discount a Golf GTI, RS Octavia or Clio 197 all of which can be had for mid 20's

    2015 Clio

New Volkswagens are a class above. The Skoda is a VW and they are good value due to a lack of knowledge of what they are esp in the sport version. 225 CUP would be great also.

I have a bit of soft spot for the 156. The GTA will probably fit the bill performance and price wise. Pokinacha is one person here on the forum who owns one.

hsv vxr (astra turbo) - torque steer pig...
megane rs cup or f1 - Awesome on a stick.
focus xr5 trubo - Sensational Volvo motor, bit of a blunt instrument compared to the Megane though. Dumb looking body kit
207 gti - Not a real gti. Nice, but not awesome
clio 197 - Awesome. Cross between Integra and RSM
mazda mps turbo - 3 is also a torque steer pig - untalented chassis reverted to electrickery to keep power under "control".
206 gti 180 has to be mint and low km's though - bit too dinkt for my tastes
evo 6? - dunno. Seem to be a bit too uncompromising in their ride though. Nowhere near the tractability and daily civilisation of the RSM I suspect
sti impreza - yawn. common. plastic.
new polo gti (1.4 turbo and supercharged) - nice it seems
golf gti - needs no introduction
I tried to drown my sorrows in alcohol, but the bastards learnt how to swim

I am very happy with my Honda Insight Hybrid which you drive with your head and not your right foot.

I saw a few of these driving around a few months ago (dealer/motoring writer familiarisation???) and they looked better than the accompanying Prius.

Go the Polo GTI. I saw that was on your list. Saw one parked and they really are great. They are actually much better value than the Golf GTI.

Try for the Megane then. I also think the Focus XR5 would be worth a look at.

    Alfa GT V6?
    Nissan 350Z?

Go look at a Fiat Ritmo if you want something different. They are good value now.
