Should get godaddy to delete our whole life story more often, nothing but Kudos on email & otherwise, nobody has been pissed.

Thanks to mistareno for uploading the style in readiness for powwebs database requests & Greenblood for the moral support on the electric telephone. Then there's a couple of David's. David Cottle who looks after the technical stuff for AF & it's now defunct dedicated server, plus allowing us a place to crash while we waited for this joint. Then David S who has been pounding me with questions I can't answer about adding cached google data back into the database. He is already going great guns getting our info back & inadvertently helped with fixing the new thread issue here tonight.

Thanks all for being patient too. This last week will be very long remembered won't it!

I'm so sorry for fiddle farting around with the godaddy account. There is obviously an issue with their setup & deleting something so fast including any backups that may exist has got to be bad business practice anyway. If someone got hold of my user & password they could do it intentionally?? Everything was gone in one click.

Best thing to help out now is to get posting BIG TIME. Ask questions that may have been asked a million times before, don't worry. I think in 6 months the continuation equilibrium should return to AF. Whatdayareckon?

Well, thanks Gerry (and all other involved parties) for getting us back in our own place so quickly.

It was nice to camp out at the other place for a bit, but there's no place like home.

Thanks to all concerned, it's like having part of your life back again.

The task that is daunting is replace 3000 odd lost posts and get the information back on AF.

I know that I'll be keeping a structured copy of all posts from now on.

    Default Msg on Aus-City?

Has any notification been put up on Aus City that we are open for business over here?

I notice there's a new ad over there (appeared this morning) for a BX16V...

    Cheers

A thousand thanks to all who contributed and continue to dredge and sort things out!

My heart sank when the crash happened but I was confident that somehow or other things would work out. What a community!

    Cheers to all.

Strange feeling isn't it, home means different things to different people, but home means green walls, lots of people who 'we know' (mostly looking much younger than we did yesterday ). the little bloke up in the left corner who doesn't look like a rocket.
We owe so much to gibgib and the team that helped him get the whole thing back on the road that I trust a special place is set up which engraves their names (no matter how small a part they played) in 'electronic stone'. On this stone should also be the team from Aus-City who gave us the life line to continue. With such a calamitous turn of events we may have all wandered away to parts unknown and AF may have been gone forever.
With luck we can re- create much of the history that is missing from the past five years - I'm sure that people will happily repost the bits and pieces that they have contributed over time.
The really hard one is going to be the In Memoriam - Alan, Jeff, Sideways, Owen are just some that I can think of from a long list of those whose contribution, not only to this forum, but to this country's appreciation of French cars merits recognition. Hopefully those who contributed to the eulogies which were written here on their behalf have a record of these notes which will enable Richard to rebuild this part of our history.
Those people that say I know - generally don't.

I too would like to express thanks to gibgib and everyone else involved in getting the pond back on its feet. This has been an incredible resource for both the local and international froggy community, let's hope it continues to be around long into the future.

    Ron,

You are so right - the loss of any of our archives are to regretted.

Here's hoping that they may be replaced, over time, from whatever source.

Many thanks to those who have rescued AF - I for one am appreciative.

    Sincerely,

    Fento

Many thanks for the fantastic behind the scenes work - even as a quiet AF member, I have missed my daily cruise of the site. Didn't realise how much it had become part of my web life! Amazed me how easily a digital world can be lost - must have seriously frustrated you!!!!
Now get back to having a life: AND we all owe you a big party
