    Pictorial of Saturdays Cruise

Hi all. I finally go these pics and movies home so now I can place a few up for you all to see.

There were 7 cars that turned up on the 11th August for a nice run up through Mt. Nebo then on to Mt. Glorious. Here we are in the carpark just out from The Gap. The 206 in the background is owned by the lovely lady who took this photo. Nick (Peugeot) took most of these shots on the way up in Nexus’ car at the back of the pack.

We headed off at a leisurely pace at about 10.30am. Fortunately we had a really good run all the way up with very little traffic, unlike the other times I have been up this road. We are all visible in this shot.

The roads all the way up and down the mountain are excellent. It’s a real blessing to have such high quality roads so close to us here in Brisbane.

    YEAH RIGHT!!!
We threw caution to the wind, as these signs really don’t consider us Frog drivers.

This was just about the only traffic we got the whole way up. This guy had a few problems trying to cut in and out of 7 cars in neat formation.

There are splendid views the whole way up, unfortunately only those riding shotgun “should” really make the most of them.
The first part of this road, from The Gap to Mt. Nebo is a mixture of long sweeping bends and a few nice switchbacks. There is really good visibility through the corners and just a gentle slope most of the way up.

    [

We got up to Mt. Nebo in about 25mins, but went straight through to Mt. Glorious.

Just out of Mt. Nebo, there is a great little section of downhill switchbacks on good cambers and great visibility. Needless to say, we all stuck together on the way up to enjoy the drive, but this is one of the best sections of road to have a blast at.

    (to be continued)

Nick did excellent work with the camera to capture all 7 cars in one shot while on the run. The great thing about this road is the realistic speed limits. Pretty much the whole way up is 80km/h, even through the tight stuff, with recommended speed signs to make you aware of any upcoming dangers.

We got up to Mt. Glorious at about 11.30, parked and got out to have a drink and talk cars…of course.

This mountain is really dominated by bike riders, especially on Sundays. Lucky for us this was a Saturday morning, so there were only a small number at the Mt. Glorious kiosk.

Yes Still talking cars. We spent about half an hour up the top before we decided to head back down to Brisbane via Samford.

One of the Citroen AxGT boys and I, with Nick as shotgun, headed off first. We started out going down the same road we came up on for about 3kms.

Then we turn off for one of the best sections of road I have ever been on.
We started off quick and got quicker.

Heading down to Samford now, at break-neck speeds, Nick did his best to catch the best moments of the run.

The little AxGT was having a hard time under braking. On most corners like this, smoke was, well, pissing out of the front brakes, however would of made a mockery of any ricecooker. This section of road was only about 8kms long, but really good quality and well signed. Fortunately we didn’t come across any traffic as somehow this road wasn’t meant for overtaking.

What do you mean double white line Hey, I was only following his line.

An undisclosed speed was attained during this excursion. Peer pressure.

After that nice run, there is about 10-15kms of flat, undulating roads, but we had to stay legal as police tend to get in the way when having fun.

Nick also took some short videos for me on the way up. Here are two of the, well, lets say more sensible movies.

With these movies, what you have to do now is to just click on them and save to disk, then extract them.

    <A href="http://members.fortunecity.com/pugtrips/move/mov0001.zip">Movie 1 - 1.3mb</A>
    <A href="http://members.fortunecity.com/pugtrips/move/mov0002.zip">Movie 2 - 1.3mb</A>
    <A href="http://members.fortunecity.com/pugtrips/move/mov0003.zip">Movie 3 - 1.3mb</A> Taken in my car (306 S16) on the way back down.

So that was a brief summary of the small cruise we had on the weekend. I would love to organise another, and have as many people, Peugeot, Citroen and Renault owners alike, as possible.

There are oodles of good quality roads just begging to be experienced in this part of the country.

    Have Fun

You can get the other movies that I took on the day here. Only get them if you're interested as some were just me screwing around on the way back. jr saw me, he knows
    They are all 1.3mb.

With the movies, you will have to copy the location into your browser address bar. The hosting site does not allow links from other sites. Or you can try a "save target as".

With the pics, they should work. If not, get the properties box up and copy the file location into the address bar like the movies.

This is only a temporary option till i get my bigpond page up. BTW does anyone know if having bigpond advance/adsl also gives you a web page. It seems to me like you have to be on bigpond dialup to get one. That really doesn't make sence.

    Grrrr!!!!
    The movies are screwed.
Seems free webhosts have shut down any .avi and .mpg file access to prevent Pr0n.
Gibgib, can i store them on the aussiefrogs server?
In the mean time, ill setup an ftp into my machine when I get home tomorrow night so you can all get copies of the movies. Either that or ill try to find another host.

I might rty to zip the movies up. Might fool the geocities server. You will have to download them first though.

    Hi Guys,

to save downloading and uploading again, just remame the movies to '.jpg' or something like that, but leave a message asking for them to be renamed back to the right name once downloaded. Hey, how do you think all the music and warez gets stored a geocity's....

Now I'm p*****d off. Start time came around too early for me, Saturday (knew it would) so I missed the run, but now I see my old AX (the black). I really miss that car! Glad you had a good run.

Phasis I hear you. If it's not more than 30 megs or so it's OK but only temporary ('bout a month). If we run out of space the forum stops working & we start to loose stuff

    I'll email you with instructions

Welcome 4fan. Don't need to recognise the plate to know that car. Yours would have to be the only black one with an update hatchlid in the country! (The view most people still get?)
    How's the car going?
My new Xsara VTR just doesn't have the character of the AX.

Ok, I have put all the movies in ZIP form on the fortune city server. There should not be a problem to keep them here instead of on the aussiefrogs server.

If there are any other probs with viewing the pics or downloading the movies, just email me and ill try to sort it out.
