    Hiring a Scenic

Seems we've left our run too late, but this is the first time we've had a chance to get out of Melbourne.

Now we can't find anywhere to hire a Scenic. frown

    Sue,
Drop into your nearest renault dealer and take one for a very very extended test drive, they'll understand roll_lau bad luck with the hire car, you must be like us we tend to leave things to the last minute wink If you can hang on for a while I'm told the citroen_ Picasso is due around July this year, might be option worth looking at.

    Cheers
    Chris

tsk tsk tsk Chris - you'll get in trouble calling it that from the Picasso family. The car is officially the Citroen Xsara Picasso.

And yes it is due here soon - you can sign up to get info on the Citroen website. Hopefully I get a limited edition keyring like I did with the C3

Try for a super-dooper-extended test drive Sue You never know!

We got a 2 or 3 day test drive on our Citroen XM before dad bought it... can't see why they wouldn't give you 4 days in a demonstrator Scenic.

How would they feel with 1,000 ks on the clock & not necessarily a sale at the end of it.

Thing that beats me is as far as I can tell there is no hire company in Melbourne that has one!!! Budget has the Clio and the Megane but not the Scenic.

I hired a Silver Scenic from Budget last year, it might have been an evaluation model as it was the only one they had. Picked it up from the Melbourne Airport.

Yeh, sorry about that, I sort of figured that as I was able to hire one from there it would still be available!

Hope you can organise something. You need a REALLY friendly Renault dealer...

I wanted to hire a Scenic this March in Melbourne from the airport and was told by Renault Australia that Budget had them. A call to Budget revealed they did not. Who does hire the Scenic? I'm thinking of buying one but would like to try first. Also the mid range Dynamic has gone up by $2000 since it was introduced, but why?

    My last message has disappeared!

Spent last week dealing with asthma instead of dealing with dealers.

Ended out driving MIL's 85 Volvo wagon instead. Had portacot & mobile jail to return to the relies, so needed wagon sized space.

I'm only 5' 8" but with the seat fully back my arms were still cramped for room behind the wheel, and got a stiff neck from holding that driving position.

No guts for overtaking. Even though I could spin the back wheels in the gravel.

Room under the bonnet for a V6. Such a heavy car for such a small engine. Only 2 litre and way heavier than the CXes.

Hired a Megane Cabriolet from Budget last week in Melbourne. While I was at the desk, I picked up a brochure describing what cars they hire - looked inside and "surprise" - Scenic available for hire, mid 2003 (possibly earlier, I can't remember the actual month in the brochure) - looks like they are getting them after all!

(Wonder what happened to the one I hired last year?!)

    Hi Europa

Thanks for that. Will have to keep an eye out for it. The Picasso should be coming around August is that right?

Good chance to compare the two.

Yep, also be aware the Scenic is replaced by the new model in the next few months - I suspect the Budget Scenics will be the older model though...
