Who owns the red 309GTi what lives in Nth Sydney?

I've seen a red 309GTi in the northern subs of Sydney and would love to know who owns it and how it got over here.

Abso-fabuloso car the 309GTi. I read somewhere it tops out at 220km/h and is similar to 205GTi but with taller gearing.

309GTi's are a bit of a cult car in the UK. They're cheap (1500 quid or about $4500) but most have been thrashed or badly modded.

I've seen a 309GTi for sale in Narrabeen at least 2 years ago. Perhaps it's the same car.

I also like the 309's style. Aparently the 309GTi 16V is a step above the 205 GTi in terms of all round performance.
I have many a Echappemment magazine that shows the 309 as the performance bargain in France. Pity the magazine is in French though!

    Hi guys,
User 309GTI owns the gun metal grey one. I also saw it for sale at Warriewood maybe 2 years back.
I haven't seen the red one though.
I agree, these are a nice car, esp if the 205 is a bit small for your needs.

    Cheers from Noosa

chipper, they were available in mainland europe (LHD) as 16v versions, ie mi16 instead of the 8v.
but the UK only got the 8v.
    I know of a 309 with a t16 engine
and the latest Max Power mag has Steve's (http://ww.auto-extreme.com) 309 turbo on the cover.

Oh yeah, Daniels's 309 was written off a few months ago, he's got a smaller pug now.

Well, I saw that 309GTi in Chatswood 2 weeks ago so it can't be the one that was rolled (unless its been straightened out).

Anyone know if the 309 was ever sold in NZ? Or Japan?
