6 Pugs and a Renault dominate at the Motokhana championships

6 205s turned up at Nirimba Motokhana today, 5 of which competed and had a blast.

There was a special running a Renault engine, which I think took out the entire event today.

Fun day it was, even in the heat!

Now, is anybody selling a 205 power steering rack? My arms took a hammering today.

    Cheers

Do you need a PS rack or just the ram? If you just need the ram you should be able to pick that up for a reasonable price.

Congrats on having a fun day

The Renault special is run by the Colliers, who run a Renault and Peugeot repair centre in James Ruse Drive, Granville.

Parry, your arms are soft. Do some weights. I had a ball, without power steer and an LSD!

Tekkie proved to be a thorn in the side again. Well done!

Thanks Peter, I might add you did few courses quite bit faster than me, and that was without the handbrake. You like making life harder for yourself eh?

Awesome day, not so awesome to anyone who didnt bring a hat and a sunblock!
It was my 1st motorkhana, and whilst its murder on cars, I wouldnt mind doing it more often in some ratty shitbox car I could borrow from a wrecker. The swift is def a nice package but the hard lock accelerations couldnt possibly be good for the knuckle joints on the driveshafts in the FWD

I saw the times of the other Red 205 and they were 2 secs faster than you on every test!

This bloke definately dominated the class!

ahh, I though you had an access to ALL the times hence the question.

Some of the people there were obvious pro-s, the guy in what looked like standard Datsun Sunny was doing times faster than me! Hardly suprising, there is no replacement for experience in events like these.

    --edit--

btw, to satisfy my curiosity, does anyone know how the points are scored in motorkhanas? Is it an average of all times?
or are points allocated for each circuit and added at the end?

    cheers

In a championship event, timing starts as the driving wheels turn and stops when the car enters the finish garage. Five seconds penalty for every flag and slowest time outright plus five seconds or double fastest time, whichever is the better, for a wrong direction. The addition of all times plus penalties determines the winner. Some states also use a handicap system to allow a 405 to compete with a special.

    Thanks Alan,

I was actually trying to ask about "at the end of the day" scores ... but you brought up an interesting subject.. PENALTIES.

Do these vary from event to event. As an example I overshot the 'garage' coming to a stop after a blistering (I thought) loop. How much would that add to my time?

    regards

Depend one what rules they follow .. overshooting and clipping cones usually gets you 10secs per offence ... but "wrong ways" sometimes add significantly more or disqualification from that test.
