Great vid Derek. Just need some more cornering shots

I want to do that sort of thing on the next melbourne drive. I just need to get my hands on a DV camera and a mac wink . I can just picture how I would do a scene - all the older cars (five ohs, CX and old renos) rolling through corners to this great french jazz CD we have by a band called 'Paris Combo'. It would be kinda surreal

Hey guys! Thanks to Derek for hosting my little Sydney Aussiefrogs video!

As you will probably notice, this is only a short version of the DVD that is available. It didn't prove feasible to have the entire video online (over 15mins) plus it's much better quality on DVD! wink

if you'd like your own copy on DVD, please email: [email protected]

So kids, it's time now for our dodgey promotional jingle!

    1,2,3...HIT IT!

"If you'd like a copy, don't be sloppy, better hurry or you'll be surry (sorry) - Don't delay, secure your copy TODAY!"

Sorry 'bout that, got a little silly suddlenly. Wouldn't have expected that now would you?

It's actually a streaming file on a streaming server...

The file's 7.5mb, so I can't e-mail you a copy because my mail server won't accept attachments over 4mb. When I get home tonight I'll convert it to a different file type and put it in a download space.

Ollie, sounds fun. It would be great to have a propper video for the next drive. I'd be more than happy to go camera man as I think my old 505 could do without the stresses of an aussie frogs cruise wink

I have friends with Macs, although I'm not sure if they are up to the job. Are a 450mhz iMac and a 800mhz iBook. Both have OSX and latest iLife software though.

    They'll both do it fine.
MY4 and I did some video editing on a G4 Cube (400mhz) in OS9, with 96MB RAM. Slow to render, but fine. The more RAM you've got the better. I have 768mb, MY4 has 1GB. RAM's cheap

Thanks for the info Derek. The iMac has 512mb RAM and I think the iBook has 256. I went to an Apple shop the other day to have a look. I'm determined to get my hands on a 12" Powerbook before uni starts next March wink .

Mind you, I would only be able to afford the most basic of Powerbooks, which only come with 256mb ram. Would it be enough with a 1ghz G4?

Ah, whatever I get has to be faster than my other computers - a 120mhz PPC mac and a 500mhz Pentium :p

Good to hear. My little sister uses the base model 12" Powerbook (hers is 867...) and it flies along with 256MB RAM. She doesn't do video editing though. It's only $200 to add another 512 to it. Don't get genuine Apple stuff installed. Do it yourself (you are allowed to, doesn't void warranty or anything) and buy it from someone like Streetwise. To be honest, any 512mb notebook ram will work wink

Here here. MY4 (Dave) did the editing, I just put it in my .Mac account (he's too cheap to get one) because Apple promotes digital video editing and gives unlimited streaming data for digital video. I'd imagine all you lot have churned up a bit of data transfer by now.

    NJM,
I know the feeling............... I may have contemplated a DV Camera if I hadn't lost all my other electronics in Perth. I've bought a new digital still camera to replace the old one for my dad (it was his), and today I bought a new UHF radio for the drive on Sunday (the new 2W Uniden model).
