    Italian Job

Hi guys, been off the forum for a while so apologies if this has already been discussed but I finally got to see the new "Italian Job" movie.

Now, I have to make the honest (and amazing to some) statement that I haven't yet seen the original although I have just booked it from the video store.

Anyway back to the topic - I thought the driving and stunts in the movie with the Minis was pretty cool and a lot more realistic than 2F2F! And Charlize Theron - oh wow

    What did you guys think?

    Cheers

Yeah I saw it last weekend. I thought it was a pretty cool film and yeah the driving stunts were a lot more realistic then 2fast2bullsh*t and the mini's looked nice

There still wasn't as much chase scenes as I antisipated, but the plot and the whole film was great. I came out and said to my firend "that was a cool film" it's been a while since I have seen a coool film. Great action, great stunts and a cool story.

I loved the movie too I wonder how though all the plastic on the front of the mini held up in some of those scenes?
It was a great movie though, not your usual action flick dance

I agree it was a good movie but a shadow of the original.

I was told that they killed close to 50 new mini's in making the movie. I know they killed a few in the original movie.

The original was a classic, i've got it on VHS, would love to get it on DVD, but can't seem to find it anywhere.

I thought the remake was good fun. Something for everyone, didnt try and make it too violent/rude/etc. Better than a lot of the current crop of movies.

Only think that made me think, was that I remember them saying 2400lbs (could be wrong here) of gold per car. Thats a little over a ton. I remember the minis coming out of the tunnel, with their arses up in the air, and landing on the front wheels. I would have thought they'd be a little more rear heavy than that.

The original actually received a fairly poor reception when it first came out, but developed "cult" status as time went on. Good fun.

Apparently when they were making it they were refused permission to "stage" a temporary traffic jam in the heart of the city, but were given permission to film there during "normal operations". So they simply arranged a couple of minis to "break down" in appropriate places and filmed around the ensuing chaos. <img src="http://www.steelheader.net/photopost/data/510/893goof_vs_evil-thumb.gif" alt=" - " />
