Fabulous pics, gibgib... do you mind if I link them on another forum?

And that one from the ship... very near the Bermuda Triangle, right?

    WOW!

Gib Gib, could I have the original full size pics for my desktop wallpaper? (if you got larger sized ones)

That's something you really don't have to ask for, I don't think.

Personal use of something that's been put into the public domain is fine... but re-posting (or publishing) is an area where you might get into trouble.

And I don't think you'll have to get a larger version... try it and see, I think the quality will be okay for a full-screen display. The pic I have on my computer is from a similar size (or even smaller) and it's okay.

What resolution is that Ray ? It looks pretty low (800x600?)

I actually run my screen on a high resolution, but the pic is smaller (like the others above) and on normal 75dpi res.

I've just put it on the full screen option... some small loss of quality, but not really noticeable until you get to a 17" screen. It's still acceptable, as far as I'm concerned anyway...

Cool (now realised you only captured a proportion of the screen) ... I usually get 13 icons down the side of the monitor, you didn't seem to have enough ... I guess you're on 1024x768.

I doubt it... though I have to admit that I've got ten icons down the side on my 17" screen.

    I think it's full screen...

And do you like the spelling in the box to the top right?

The resolution of the pic on the screen is one thing, the depth of colour another, but the screen SIZE is another still.

irrespective if you have a 800x600 resolution or 1280x1024 the picture is still the same size on your monitor.

I can just see fuzziness on my 17" screen, and on the 21" (work monitor) is really pronounced.

I noticed that most 80k Jpeg's will display fine on 17" , anything less than that will start looking fuzzy around the edges. For 21" 100k is the minimum stretched size. Hence the reason I was asking Gib Gib if he had the original pics that were sent to him. Or if the pics displayed here were the size he got.

    21" monitor?

    Showoff...

This screen is on 1028 x 768 by the way. The Pic's quite acceptable here, but any bigger and you'd say it would be tested.

I'm still waiting on an answer from gibgib, as is Gus in the battery thread.

    hehe,

its the heaviest monitor I ever had to lift onto my work desk after liberating it from the "obsolete" stockpile my company was preparing for the auctions.
I nearly had a heart attack doing it !
But I love my 17" LCD at home evil

the 1024x768 is the screen resolution, not the actual screen size. By enlarging the resolution to say 1024 on the 15" monitor is the easiest way reducting the font size and icon size.

Sorry that's the only set of pictures I have.

Perhaps if you do a search on google there maybe some hi-res ones. Local newspaper websites usually have good ones - let us know if you find more wink

Source & photographer is unknown to me as well.

    Hi Ray,

Umm I guess so, it's not really my bandwidth to say yes to wink

I'll put it on a different server first Ray & you can link it from there.

    Hi Ray

I have noticed you have ICQ have you thought of using msn messenger. A while back 2-3 years ago I used ICQ and I find that the messenger is much faster and easier to use.

If you want to get in touch with me, use Trillian...

I have loaded Messenger onto this computer, but it simply won't work.

I'm away working all this weekend, but I should be back Tuesday some time. I'm always on invisible, so just send a message and see if I reply.
