    Gadgets

    Hi all,

I bought a new gadget today - a Griffin Powermate. It's a polished aluminium wheel that doesn't just look cool, you use as a scrolling device in documents and web browsers.. you can set it to do things when you click it, or long click it. It lights up bright blue out of the bottom of it too. Pretty funky on any desk Works with Mac and PC. It's lots of use with video and audio editing as a scroll wheel.

MY 4 likes the other gadget I bought recently... it's a TDK IMA'SPEAKER. It uses TDK's nxt flat panel speaker technology to make a normal CD carry case into a portable speaker system. I've got the stereo model. Stick an iPod (or discman, or anything with a 3.5mm outlet) inside and wack it on the table. Plenty of sound! I couldn't talk on the phone when MY 4 was winding up the volume on it until I was on the other side of the room. It comes with either 12 or 24 soft cd sleeves depending on the model. Surprisingly, it was *cheaper* than many CD carry cases on the market!

    50 bucks!

I've seen CD cases of the same quality for $60 plus. $50 including such awesome speakers is unbelievable value.

I saw it at Sanity Music (had my iPod in my pocket), so took the IMA'SPEAKER to the counter and asked if I could try one out. The girl behind the counter said yes, so fired it up. She was more stunned than I was at how good the whole setup was!

I can see them being wonderful for giving presentations with a laptop (decent volume) and the like. They use 3 AA batteries for 7 hours play. I've probably used mine for 5hrs so far and it's still going strong.

    Derek.
