    Wakefield Supersprint 27sep

Organised by the Triumph Owners club the event was held today at Wakefield Park.
I dont think any of the people there expected a warm day, but what greeted all the competitors was nothing short of the amazing.....
Sub 0 deg Centigrate wind chill factor, hail, snow, rain, and perfectly sunny day from early afternoon onwards.

great turnout, and a display of very profesional curteous driving was the feature of the day despite some very adverse conditions....
Parry's and Ashley's 205Gti suffered a gearbox problem reflecting the 1:20 times before the track became dry and warmer. The RedDevil pug will be one quick machine soon I predict.

The best Pug times I had listed were
    Adrian 205Mi16....... 1:12:19
    Peter 205GTi ........ 1:17:78
Parry 205GTi (very stock car).. 1:20:36

me ..(suzuki)........ 1:17:64 (chasing Peter gave me the edge I needed wink )

Parry, I hope your clutch probs are not too serious.
Peter, Parry, Adrian, I have your laptimes here, email me if you want the copy. Ashley sorry mate, the photo with your times didnt turn out.

Yes, a great day. I'll never forget being lined up on the grid, with snow piling up the passenger side window! I'm amazed we achieved the times we did given the high wind and track temp. Perhaps a second quicker with yesterday's conditions?

Were they the final times? The last sheet I saw was 2:30pm.

oooh, oooh, magic words "Improved Production".

What is Improved Production? what can you do, what arent you allowed to do? I have looked for the rules for a while and I gotta say I ant find any worthwhile rulebook.

Is that TOMKAT jag improved prod? Damn that thing was fast down the straight.

Rules are in the CAMS manual. I think they're racing today at Eastern Creek. Not sure about TOMKAT, but there's differing rules for pre and post '86 cars.

    Tekkie,
have a look at the Improved Production times at Eastern Creek yesterday. A 1.5L Swift was very competitive. Adrian would be in the top 5.

It was a frusting day for Ashley and I. The car was handling perfectly with the Koni shocks and was much stiffer than my old car due to not having a sunroof.

Firstly we experianced overheating problems on the car and everytime we switched the motor off the coolant would empty itself all on the ground. We found the prblem and that was the radiator cap had missed a tread and was not sealing properly.

Then one of the linkages popped and leaving us in 3rd gear. A couple of cable ties helped fix the problem :-)

Ashley and I only ran to sessions each before the clucth desinergrated.

Our first sessions was in the wet and the second session was a drying track.

I was confident I was going to beat my PB of 1:19.7 if the cluth didnt blow.

Ashley impressed me for someone that has never been on the track before and also had never driven the car was able to do a 1:23:xx and was improving every session.

    Thats motor racing.

A big tank you must go to Adrian for the lift home and also for the use of the trailer to enable me to pick up the car on Sunday.

I have a few tricks up my sleeve for Oran Park to catch the Jap crap of yours Tekkie :-)

project "tractor beam" is well on the way

The only problem is that Owen and Adrian keep moving the goalposts with their own "anti-tractor beam" project. The 1:12's Adrian is doing is just shy of the PBR's. I have to thank Peter in my laptime, he was providing the incentive to go fast as I was doing my absolute best to catch him! If the roles were reversed I think Peter would have better times whilst trying to catch me.

last time I show you the way around...I think your car needs negative castor and 100 lbs/in rear springs.

I'm going out to the shed to work on my anti-Swift project.

can you glue it back together? wink

any other damage? I guess you will be upgrading the clutch to a heavy duty item now?

I think your red 205 is faster than the white road 205 you had. Most probably the shocks are the biggest difference between those two. On the good side of things at least you and Ashley did few laps on saturday and friday practice before you lost the clutch.

Are you going to be ok for the 19th?
