So, apart from the air cleaner, have you done anything to make it go better?

I'm not familiar with the layout of the 106, but I saw the 104s in France twenty-odd years ago. They had a strange setup where the engine lay on its side with the gearbox/final drive housing partly cast into what would normally be the side of the engine block.

Is this still the way it is, or have they adopted a more regular layout?

Hmm, I'm glad someone wrote what it was, for a minute there I thought someone was posting pictures of a riced up Hyundi to a french car forum roll_lau roll_lau It's badges appear to have fallen off (like they do on all the Daepoo's and Hyundi's out here).

Looks quite good, we never got the 106's out here! What's the same Citroen to the 106? Is it an AX or ....

Citroen Saxo is the 106's sister.

The 106 really is quite long in the tooth now, longest running Pug actually.

Well, not quite I'll grant that it probably is in a western country though. Mind you, didn't the 505 run from 1979-1994 in the UK?

As far as I know the 504 is the longest running Peugeot, even if that figure is limited to a few African countries.

and then when the BMW bike engine factory burned down they went to peugeot and used the same engine in their bikes in the early 90's

I seem to find the Lancer GL's badges fall off all the time ... especially when a shopping trolley handle wing appears, along with Rallyart stickers. :p

Unfortunatly no! Moneys tight and i'm in process of looking for a house. It quick enough for me as it is. Its pulling over standard performace figures anyway. Last rolling roaded at 130.5 bhp with out the 'air cleaner, so thats 10.5 bhp up on standard and 107lb torque so i cant complain.

    A couple of questions then...

How come it's more powerful without any mods?

How come you spend money on body kit stuff if you can't afford to spend it on making the car any better?

Most of the body mods were done on the insurance as my girl friend drove into the back of a nissan primera. So the body mods never cost much! A lot of the 106's and saxos over here vary quite a bit bhp wise direct from the factory. At one of our rolling road days i was running against another 3 106 gti's, 2 older than mine and one 7 months old (mines a 2000 model), i was highest out the lot at 130.5bhp with the new 106 being 123bhp, all tested on the ecosse rolling road. Mine as standard will beat a friends 106 which has decat, performance backbox, induction kit and superchip, not by much, but enough to p*ss him off. Some of the guys are pulling well bellow standard figures as brand new too.

Its just recently i've been looking at enginge mods hence the filter and ex' system. I like to make the car look good and diffrent from the other gti's on the road, so i done that. As i said before, the house hunting continues and so does the saving! Not everyone has the luxury to splash cash on everything they want! (I would be up to my eyeballs in debt if that was the case!) :p
