It's actually worse if you see it from the front eek!

One of the good things about Volvos is that they don't really attract ricers. People who mod them seem to worry more about what's beneath the metal such as engines and suspension. That's the point - they're meant to be a Q car, not a "hey, look at me, I have big stickers" car.

In regards to that wacky thing above, well, see what happens when you drink too much warm beer (no prizes for guessing where it's based!)

There's someone at uni who has riced a small Volvo sedan (not sure of the model, it's been 'badged'). It's quite a rounded body shape.

It's HOT pink with a pearl finish over the top. It has a huge exhaust with a coffee can on the end :p It'd have.. probably 17" alloys. All it does is make a hell of a lot of noise, it certainly doesn't move fast.

What a let down; I thought Vlovlo must have started employing designers with imagination but apparently I was wrong. That one looks like a cross between a Walkinshaw Dunnydore with a Hyundai handle on the boot. At least you've got to admit it's different; should be worth at least 200 posts here. roll_lau roll_lau cry cry cry mallet

They simply don't have the body to handle style mods somehow. Its a bit like Mercs. Modded ones always look worse than the original.

There is a modded 240 that I see every now and again out in the Eltham / Diamond Creek area.

Somehow, the mods always look "tacked on" rather than creating a shape with any integrated form. A bit like a billy cart with wings etc.

Here's a mildly modified but typically tacky 240:

    DeKa,

If this is the same one that is always doing laps of Chatswood shops, its an S40 ?T4? whatever the "sport" model for the S40 is. I saw the car when it did have badges and only the standard paint job and exhaust and rear wing. Then it slowly got worse and worse with the paint job etc....... roll_lau

Used to see heaps of "sik cars" when I lived at home in Roseville, not so many up in Newcastle just falcodores V8's.

    crosspug,

That would be it. I have seen it in the carpark near the Willoughby Library there too.

    S40 I guess it is?

I don't really know my Volvo models I have to say!

if its the s40 you guys see, and its the T4, they've got about 140-150kw, so they arent exactly slow. That S70 swedish brand rice looks like a walkshinshaw with a rear wing stolen from an aeroplane. Hideous stuff. True about the volvos, they don't take to body changes well at all.

volvo have actually got some fairly nifty new design work going on. the little safety coupe and new versatility concept cars are very interesting in my opinion.

Do you think he was watching a late 80's Bathurst tape and got inspired, except there was'nt a Commodore handy so he used his Mum's Volvo instead..

A brick with skirts and spoilers on it still looks like a brick. I think the only thing you can do to make Volvos look better is a coat of polish and a decent set of mags.

    Cheers,

    Ralph.

Maybe that thing sticking up at the back is the handles of his lawnmower (that's the way I've noticed they usually carry them in a Vlovlo) and the pic taken on his way to do a bit of yard work at the local Senior Citizens Centre?? deal roll_lau

    Just a thought.

I still cannot believe someone actually bothered to make the clear altezza style lights for a Volvo 850.......

How many of them would you sell?? Two?? Three??

Basically any european car looks terrible with those sort of modifications. They aren't made to be changed. Any european car with more than a subtle bodykit, normal paint colour, decent wheels, looks over the top. I'm yet to see more than a couple of european cars that have been seriously modified (in the exterior anyway), that look reasonable. Giant wings/altezzas/etc. are the domain of lancers etc. in my opinion. But, each to their own i suppose.

    What's wrong with this one??

I think it's more a case of having something that's got a bit of style to start with; if you know what I mean. wink

Yeah i was going to mention andreas' car as an example of one of the few. The mi16 is a car that really lends itself to a real touring car style look. The colour on Andreas' car isnt my cup of tea, but the rest of the car (kit, wheels, spoiler) is quite nice. But i've seen 850Rs that look as good.
