Who buys SAAB aircraft other than the Swedes themselves? I have always doubted a company that would put a Triumph Dolamite motor in its car by choice.

Isn't that simply because the Swedes wouldn't sell them to anyone else (the military ones anyway)? Don't know about these days, but when I was genuinely interested in such things back in the 60's the Saab Viggens were probably the deadliest things going around, the USA, USSR and French notwithstanding!

(There are quite a few SAAB aircraft on the regional civilian airline routes in Australia - or , at least there were until the demise of ANSETT - not so sure about now)

    Cheers

I think they gave some jets to the Israelis. "Deadliest thing around" I guess I would have to know your definition.
    Cheers.

Plenty of SAAB 340A & 340B aircraft plying regional routes in Australia. It sold quite well, you'll find it with many regional operators across the world, along with its larger sister the SAAB 2000 (one of the fastest commuter turboprops around)

rex (Regional Express) has quite a few as a result of its formation from Hazelton and Kendell. Up in QLD Macair has a few.
