Its leading onto the main straight and yes I was trying to late apex. I could always tell how well I took that corner by when I was changing into forth gear down the straight.

Damn you Parry, I feel like driving there tomorrow.
    Thats a rather nice pic.
With Koni Sport (Adjustable Im guessing your choice might be) you cannot really stiffen the front end , and the stiff rear will produce the cocked leg syndrome to the joy of drivers behind you (or the photographers). Stiff rear end will help you keep the front on the ground during cornering but only if your shocks and springs allow the wheels to drop to the ground. I have been told about rebound rates, compression rates in shocks and most of it went over my head. FWD suspension setup is a major mystery for me still. But the Konis def made my FWD buzzbox a lot more predictable on the street. The track time test soon.

Parry / Ashley, did you guys settle on a date for the Wakefield yet?

PeterT: could you offer some advice on the shock setting setup I should be using? (I have 4 adj Koni sports)

hehe nice were you a bit too deep into that corner? looks like it wink

I am keen for a day at wakefield park. I may bring a mate and bring down 2 cars, I will bring my 206 and the Porsche RS.

I am just looking forward to pushing my 206 to it's limits, I won't be able to keep up with the 205's or GTi 306's, but will be fun in my own little lame class wink It's been almost 2 years since I have been to wakefield, I need another hit soon!

What level cams lisence do you need for the Wakefield days? 2 years ago I just used a standard level 2 cause I was there with a car club, do we need higher? hrm I have to upgrade mine anyway next month.

Wouldn't a Wakefield Park licence do?

From what I heard today, it may well be that the CAMS won't be around in six months anyway.

Ray you cant just throw out a line like that and runaway! Spill your guts!

That corner in the photo is way off camber and I really go hard under brakes into it with a bit of left braking to get the car to turn in so more. I guess the photo is when I am slightly left foot breaking! I love that photo!

Tekkie, stiffer front springs is my guess to eliminate the body roll, from the photo its the front left that is digging in so much. If I stiffen the rear the RR will be even higher! As I said though its only a guess.

No Cams license needed for open days at Wakefield, but no weekends for open days.

My car should be back on the road in about 4 weeks.

So make it late August/early September and I should be there. That will give me enough time to run it in and have the final tune as well.

where is that held at? Are you participating? More details please !

You need L2S CAMS licence or higher,
    or
    Wakefield 12 month licence ($35)

The cost is $80 and you will need a helmet or you can rent one for $20 (with $50 refundable deposit)

Midweek dates are a lot less populated than the weekend, hence the selection of the dates below.
    The dates...
    <strong>July</strong>
    Monday 21st
    Thursday 24th
    Monday 28th
    <strong>August</strong>
    Monday 4th
    source <a href="http://wakefieldpark.com.au/site/events_calendar.cfm?action=events_calendar" target="_blank">Wakefield Park website</a> .
I would have to call up for later dates (unlisted on website) if these dates dont leave enough time for people to organise the time off.

    Ok, Any takers?

Thanks Voytek. But be careful with the champagne bottle. I'm only using tape to hold it on these days to save weight. roll_lau (just kidding)

    Tekkie,
in regards to shock settings, I suggest to keep adjusting them until you get the fastest lap times!

What works for one driver doesn't necessarily work for another. Have you read Mark Skaife's book?

I can't go mid-week. My next planned outings are CSCA dates, Eastern Ck. 23 Aug, and Wakefield 27-28 Sept.

Well, the CAMS has just finalised liability insurance for the coming year. Goody...

There is no increase in the premiums. Goody...

But the excess has jumped alarmingly... up from a relative pittance to $100,000 per claim!

In addition, whereas the insurer used to cover all legal costs relating to claims, they now become part of the claim. Often, if not always, they treble the claim.

So, where five or six claims at about $35,000 each used to cost the Confederation about $100,000 and that was that, they'll now cost about $500,000 or more.

The money will have to come from somewhere, but their income base is about to be eroded further.

Heard of the AAA? That's the association of promoters... who are banding together to run race meetings without CAMS.

Think it won't happen? Well, Bob Jane, who isn't likely to be paying any money to the CAMS, is going ahead with resurfacing of the AIR circuit. That wouldn't be happening if he wasn't about to get some racing going there.

And that's the tip of the iceberg.

W/end don't work because there are scheduled events over the next couple of months

Wednesdays are also out for the next month or so, leaving monday's or fridays ..... however speaking to the chap today, Fridays are pretty horrible.

Yes I am participating as a driver, my dad is my navigator Driving in the Porsche 911RS. It is the first weekend of September. Called the east Coast classic car rally. It used to be open to pre 1979 cars, but this year it is open for anyone to enter. Which is a bit of a shame cause have the classic cars in it was a lot of fun.

It has about 8-15 special stages a day (depending on the day) they are closed roads and some of the sections are 8km's long on really fantastic tight winding rally roads as well as fun long straights. We also do sprints at Oran Park, Eastern creek and the Full circuit of Mount Panorama over the 5 days.

Last year they closed off part of the Olympic park at homebush bay and we had a really fast special stage aorund the stadium It was fun comming out of a corner on the olympic boulavard at about 180km/h right infront of the cops who were spectating wink

    Loads of fun wink
