    BEST and FAVOURITE frogs

After reading the Immaculate 16 thread, and seeing a couple of say that they would buy a brand new 16 if they were available, I thought it would be interesting to discuss our best and favourite models of each marque.

What are our favourite cars? Which ones would you say are the best? Best and favourite are not necessarily the same thing. Favourite is the one that pushes your buttons most, the one you choose with your heart; best is the one that does the job most effectively, the one you choose with your head.

    As for me:
Best Pug: 405 SRi S2 manual.

    Favourite Pug: 504.

    Best Citroen: Xantia

    Favourite Citroen: GS

    Best Renault: Laguna

    Favourite Renault: 16

No need to justify your picks, especially favourites. Reason doesn't always come into it, does it?

    Funny...

I thought long and hard about what was the Best Renault - I thought I'd better put something in to keep the Renault folks happy! It seems others are more honest.

Hmm, is 'best' the most capable, or simply the best?

    Well I shall say:

    Best Pug: 306 GTi / S16
Favourite Pug: either the 504c or 505 Turbo Injection, although I'd love a 406SV 5spd manual.

    Best Cit: XM Exclusive
Fav Cit: DS23 or SM, can't make up my mind.

    Best Renault: Clio Sport
Fav. Renault: Don't know, but I think the Floride looks cool from some angles.

"All of its cars from the 1.1 litre 205 through the ugly duckling 309 to the 2.2 litre 505 GTi had a rightness and a righteousness about them that turned every humdrum drive into a journey. Someone, I once wrote, in the bowels of Peugeot understands handling and how a chassis should feel." - Jeremy Clarkson
