    So close ... i can't wait!

    Hello Froggers

Having been a 205GTI admirer for some time, i joined Parry, the lads and their fellow PUG's for their trackday at Wakefield Park ..... simply sensational! Thanks to all for making me feel welcome (sorry about the photos)

Call me impulsive, but having been so impressed by the performance of the little PUGs i went out and bought one the next day! A 1989 205 GTI S1 with 148km on the clock. Pick it up tomorrow .... and i can't wait.

A self proclaimed car enthusiast, the 205 will replace my 2000 model AUDI Quattro Turbo - why? because i am caught up by the appeal of the 205, and its a classic performance car ... what can you say.

I miss the sheer "driving pleasure" offered by such cars which the Audi just doesn't seem to offer. I've owned a few classic's in my time:
    1968 Mini Cooper
    1971 VW 1600s
    1971 MGB Roadster MkII
1968 Renault 10 (great car - would love to find a Renault 8 Gordini)
    1980 Peugeot 604 (bought it for $500 .. a bargain)
1958 Porsche 356 (rotting in my garage - i'll restore it one day)

I can't wait to get to know my 'new' car, and spend much time on this website.

    cheers to all.

    hi ashley,

    welcome to aussiefrogs .

the 205's an absolute wrecking ball. others talk about bang for your bucks, we drive it head_ban .

my 205's stocky, but had an entertaining encounter with an a4 1.8T some months back, at the lights. it was all riced up from the flouro screaming yellow paintjob and some crummy chrome alloys. dropped ma clutch at bout 5500 thou and wheel spin in first and second and slowly pulled away, thereafter. dont think it was a quattro coz it was way too easy. at the next set of lights he pulled up half a car length. same thing. talk about being embarresed by only a 205 gti head_ban .

havent had the chance to do any mods (except larger rims) as somethings always falling off or gettn fixed roll_lau . the grins and instant lift off oversteer offset the heartache in the hip pocket wink .

u got plans for yer 205?

    Welcome to Aussiefrogs.

A 2000 Audi Quattro and a 1989 205 GTI are poles apart in driver enjoyment. I've found driving Audi's to be a numb expeience. The Pug's feel like they are alive. Enjoy.

Talk about catching the Pug Bug! Good work Ash! This is the second time after a Sydney outing we've had someone go off and buy a car the very next day. Danielsydney bought a C3 after the last long cruise.

Anyway, welcome to the madness. Great to see the 306 dominance in Sydney starting to get broken up by the original pocket rocket.

Y'all are tempting me to guy and buy something just so I have a car... mallet

    welcome to AF

what can i say...they r a brilliant car and i m sure (100%) it ll become a car that u just cann t wait to drive again and again and again...pure driving pleasure....
the chances are though that u ll get used to its power and handling soon as well and thats when u might also start to think about improving things....

here is my formula for 205

    20%-30% more power + good tyres/shocks = PERFECT CAR

    cheers

I guess you've been told that's the best model?

Slack diff in that one, and a gearbox to spend money on... regularly.

Go for a slightly later one, with the C-series gearbox and diff, if you're determined to have a four. My preference would be a 3000 Mk 2.

Funny thing, the only one I ever drove was the 4000.
