    Supersprints

For anyone considering Supersprints, I can highly recommend it. I had my first outing at the CSCA event at Oran Park short circuit yesterday. Beginners like me were well looked after, with introductory laps before the official runs. Each run comprised of 3 full laps with a flying start. Cars went out in pairs, with a max. of 10 per run. I managed 9 runs and would done 10, except for engine problems. My engine managed to pump out a total of 4L into my 3L catch tank over the day! I just kept the oil up to it and went on driving. Looks like an unscheduled rebuild though. There were a wide variety of cars there, including Jag, MG, Lotus, Triumph and open wheelers. Three Pugs entered, and posted the following times:

    205/Mi16 A. Wuillemin 52 sec.
    205/Mi16 O. Wuillemin 53 sec.
205 Gti (modified) myself 59 sec.
    205 Gti (std) G. Bott 60 sec.

I finished about two thirds down the group, the Wuillemins in the top 10 or 12. A real eye opener for me was Geoff Bott in his std. 205. He has plenty of racing experience and showed how important driving skill is. His car was a completely std. Series 1. My car in comparison has suspension, engine, diff and brake mods., on Formula Rís. One of the few Japanese cars there was a WRX which did 53 sec. A well modified VL Turbo Commodore did 51.9 sec.

Next CSCA event is Eastern Creek, 11 May.
Next CAMS event is Oran Park 23 March.

Peter, is it possible to list times for all of the cars there please. It would be interesting to compare. Nine sessions is a good deal. Last time I did a Supersprint, I got four sessions of four timed laps each.

That's a lot of cars! I'll scan it when the official list arrives. Should have been 4 laps each, but someone incorrectly decided 3.

    Results can be seen at:
    <a href="http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?09/03/2003.ORAN.SS" target="_blank">http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?09/03/2003.ORAN.SS</a>

Unfortunately, the types of cars are not listed. You can get some idea from the classes.

R2 - racing marque and non-marque cars on slicks

N3A - modified non-marque cars under 2L on DOT tyres
    N3B - as above over 2L

N1A - unmodified non-marque cars under 2L on DOT tyres
    N1B - as above over 2L

SVA - non-marque under 2L special vehicles, eg 4WD turbo, PRB, etc.

SVB - non-marque over 2L special vehicles, eg 4WD turbo, PRB, etc.

If you go back to a previous event:
    <a href="http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?02/11/2002.ORAN.SS" target="_blank">http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi?02/11/2002.ORAN.SS</a>
you can match some of the numbers to cars. Full results will follow later.

Even more interesting is the main index:

Peter, i juts finished the Luff 1&3 drving course and had a ball, just to let you know, in the wet i did 2 1:04;s, luffy mentioned that in the dry you go about 10 seconds faster, so a 54 is pretty good. A 1:04 is great for WET and my first time out there....

ps, i recommend this to anyone.

Sounds great, good effort too. What are you doing 11 May? It's the next CSCA round at Eastern Creek. I won't be at Oran Park on March 23. I've got a sick engine to rebuild. Hopefully by 11 May, I 'll have a lower diff, LSD and a fresh engine.
