There was the original LNC motorshow car that was for sale going back about 2 two years ago.

In a nutshell there are two versions, early version with 110bhp, 1983 model onwards, later version, with 125bhp. Basically it is mechanically identical to the Fuego turbo, four wheel discs, 1565cc crossflow motor based on the 15TS/16/17 motor.

As for how much it would be worth, how long is a piece of string? It all depends on history, condition, originality etc.

They are pretty quick from what I have been told in there day.
The 18 was a very much underated little car. Some have said to me it was riddled with cheap fitouts and build quality.
I like them very much however. Very nice little cars.Very comfortable.
If you look at a Renault fuego it has a similar front end to the 18.
I didnt know any turbos existed in australia. It must be the only one i guess. 2_cents

I have heard that there are another two kicking around, but there are likely to be a few private imports around, judging by the numbers of 9's 11's and 14's that seem to pop out of the woodwork occasionally.

From contemporary tests, the 18T wasn't considered anything really special. Infact a bit of a disappointment from a firm who had so much F1 Turbo experience at the time.

    Hey,
I have one of these, in NZ of course... Umm, here a good one goes for about $2-3k NZ - that would be mint though, and probably less than 150kms. In oz, with only one or two imported, the price is as much (or as little) as someone is prepared to pay. An advantage is that you can get bits from NZ fairly cheaply....

They are very similar to the fuegos' both in trim, ride etc, a heap more room in the back seat though. If you want something that has a good size boot, seats four adults comfortably and can go like stink they are ok. First thing to do is fit a big bore exhaust and boost controller- no more than 14psi though, for durability and it means you are then under the automatic boost ignition cutout...Can be made to go quite hard though...

    Cheers Ben

Looks like a Fiat Regatta!! count me out on this one..but if anybody else is interested post me off list. Apparently i'm told it is the only one in oz [???] by the owner, has race seats and Fuego
    dash..might get for between $2-$4000.
    cheers jr

I saw an original silver one at a place just outside Lismore (northern NSW) about two years ago. It was complete and running, but in fairly rough condition. The wheels were like a Fuego, but 14" not metric. If it were a standard 18 it's condition would make it worth $300, but as a Turbo maybe $2000.

Sounds like the ex LNC show car. I remember it being advertised on the net at the time, asking price was in the order of $5K it looked scruffy in the pics and had a lot of k's on the clock. Even being a turbo it would have to be good for $2K.

The Fuego wheels were the stock item, beats me why LNC specified the metric rims for the Fuego instead for AUS. They must have thought that the TRX technology angle was a good selling point.

The silver car up Lismore way is the ex LNC car and was owned by Phil Martin - an ex RCCA Member so it is quite likely this is the same car - brought in originally for evaluation purposes.

Phil used to live down Nowra way before moving up north.

At the time he owned it, he maintained it was the only one in the country - of course there could have been private imports since or; he could have been bullsh*tting of course and not really known how many there were.

I seem to recall Phil telling me he had bought it direct from the distributor at the time, but don't quote me on that.

I haven't heard from him for at least 4 years. I think he was near Ballina at the time.

Phil Martin was the guy that owned it when I saw it, but had grand ideas of it's value. It would need quite a few dollars before it was nice again.
