    Alloy wheel straightening and polishing

Does anyone know of a good place to have wheels fixed? (and any pitfalls I should be aware of)
My new R25 has flat spots on every wheel. I want to get them round again and also polished - I saw a white R25 with polished factory alloys once and it looked great!

If you are in the Sydney area, you could try:
    Circle Track Wheels
    U4/ 27 Anvil Rd Seven Hills 2147
    (02) 9674 5651 OR... (02) 9674 5611

I used them many years ago to straighten most of the wheels on my 505 executive. For each wheeel, they remove the tyre, repress the wheel, machine off any blemishes , repaint, then replace the tyre and re-balance the wheel. I'm not sure how much per wheel - could be about $125 (guess now). Also, they only had dies for imperial wheels, i.e., 14", 15" etc.

The difference was incredible - smooth rolling (more like gliding) and a 10% improvement in economy.

    There may be other places.

    Hi Haakon,

There's places in Melbourne that 'roll' wheels. I'd ring around Bendigo for starters though.

Whoever roll 'em ask for them back before the tires are mounted. I'd love to try that POR 'Glisten' on a pair of alloy wheels. If POR 15 is anything to go by, the rest of there products would have to be brilliant !!

My father got one of the CX wheels rolled after a big rock was hit at speed denting the rim.

I once purchased 2 new & 1 second hand Mi16 15" alloys from a dealer in UK. All wheels were perfectly round but the used one was filthy, from brake dust, salt, etc. So I used engine degreaser, and warm water and detergent to get the dirty wheel clean. Then i used steel fine wool to shine up the reverse face. Then POR Glisten on all 3 wheel back faces. Just brushed it on, 2 coats at suggested drying interval, in warm weather.
The wheel have remained perfect since, and clean up easily fro brake dust, grime, grease, etc.
    Well worth while.
