I have an '01 306XT with RACQ, full comp for $367, but my '94 405 SRI was $660. Maybe they just don't like 405s. The 306 is worth double the 405 and makes more power, neither are modified, and yet the 306 is half the price. I'm not complaining, just surprised.

Seeing your question and the thread that developed reminded me that I intended to ask you about the cold air box that were fitting in February. Would you please send me a photo(digital attachment would be good) or two which clearly shows its size, shape, etc and some measurements would be helpful?
Are you pleased with the result?
    Cheers
    Don wink
    Don,

The guy is still making it. I was speaking with him yesterday and he says he should have it finished in time for the 1st hillclimb on Mar 16. I am not expecting too much on it's own. I have ordered an offset cam wheel to advance the inlet cam timing by the desired 4 degrees. Once that is on, I will fit the Unichip I have picked up and have it dyno tuned for 98 octane fuel. I will be drawing the line there as I have bought another car for competition now. I will post a pic as soon as I get the air box. Once he has the mold, making another will be easy. The cost is $270.

    Cheers,

    Cal.

Sorry this should have been included in the message.

"Cal it would be a good time to stop speeding and being a bloody idiot. Because every K over is a killer and speed affects your stopping distance and all that."

The insurance on my MI16 is due in a month or so. As every year I made a couple of calls to get a good price.

    AAMI quoted me $1345, RACT - $1340

Both those were for market value of $7000 *spewing*

I decided to give Shannons a call, got the insurance for $874 per year, and thats an agreed value of $9000 , plus I get 1 free windscreen replacement per year!

I am 21 now, and have had the MI16 for a couple of years, I would NEVER have got it when I did if I had bothered to check out insurance before I got the car.....O the joy of the $90 insurance for the old 504

    Cheers

On UK insurance - it's compulsory too. You can't get a tax disc without insurance. I had a GBP300 Nissan banger over there which cost GBP300 to insure third party!
