What G/box oil to use

My g/box oil needs replacing as it hasn't been done ever. So what oil/brands do people use?

Was going to put NEO but at $90 for 2L maybe next time.

Cheers,
Kristian

You can tell who goes to Paul V here...we threw Neo in the last change. Found the box to be a bit smoother...my ex (the one who actually owns the car) remarked that there was a significant difference...but I don't drive it as much nowadays.

I use Syntrax, which I buy from the Green Goanna in Silverwater. He's a bit cheaper than servo's.

Don't forget it doesn't need replacing, unless you break something.

So would you say the NEO is worth putting in?

How much is the Syntrax?

Do g/box oils have different velocities or are they all the same?

NEO doesn't require changing either. I used it as it saved me getting anything else and bringing it into Paul to use. You can read up on gearbox oil at www.bobistheoilguy.com if you like

I actually meant the original Pug oil doesn't need replacing.

i still like to change mine anyway
i realise it doesn't get as polluted as engine oil but you if you leave the orginal oil in a box from day one you risk increased wear due to normal particles in the oil from wear and tear from the g/box
unless there is a filtration system on the box i'd replace the oil as per mentioned in the owners manual

there are on the other hand many 205's running around the country with sealed boxes in them though and i have always been told to steer clear of the sealed box 205's as opposed to the normal units

You guys are funny

NEO is a type of full synthetic oil that uses a different compound to normal PAO based oils. http://www.neosyntheticoil.com/
