At least this one had the rubber side down; most end up with a sunburnt chassis by the time the backwakkers have finished with them, but look on the positive side; one less to monster us with for a while. dance dance dance dance

Personally, I thought it was a lovely photo; but that's only my personal opinion. cry

He's always looking for "true" Toyota stories so he can justify his pay. Now here's a REAL story John....."Oh what a feeling!!" cry cry mallet

Hmm wonder if he got the tyre guage out before the shovel, 6 - 8 psi in the tyres, drive it out. Get above the high tide mark and blow em back up to 18psi and go home. All dry and happy.

As the pics show, he left it way too late crossing over, as seen as he attempted to dig it out the holes filled with water, and it was sitting on it belly, apparently after towing it out & washing the engine down, changing battery etc. They started it but the electrics were stuffed & it wouldn't idle but fluctuated between about 3oo to 6000 revs. Hmmmmmmmm hope warranty covers stupidity lol

Alan I agree with you that last pic is great(oh whata feeling) Yes i also agree when you say it is one less to hassle us on the roads in our lovely euro automobiles...
Whata fool why would you even drive a 4x4 that close to the beach?
They mustbt care about rust and corrosion like they display in the ads on TV, driving up the sides of cliffs and jumping gorges.
All that guy needed to do was get a lada niva (on dry land)to pull him out, he would have ben fine then.. 2_cents

If he ever gets it going again, sell it asap! Its not a landrover, and with a good dose of salt all through chassis box sections, it will rust away in 5 seconds flat. And dont forget to change every fluid twice. wink

I'll bet the bit he didn't mention was that there are fresh water springs that run down onto those beaches called "blows" and basically they are the equivalent to the old quicksand in the old black & white Tarzan movies. Everybody & I mean everybody going to Fraser are warned about these blows that under no circumstances do you drive into them because......................you can't get out of them.
They're quite easy to pick; the sand is usually a different colour due to constant dampness, vegetation tends to grow in a sort of a fashion in them & they don't get that billiard table flatness normally associated with tidal beaches.
    They kinda look like this: <img src="http://echelon.pinegap.net/~damien/stuff/funny/spoon-prado/p3.jpg" alt=" - " />

Now if you want to know why the Government has limited the areas these guys can traverse, are trying to limit the number of 4WDs on the Island (in particular the Wank Tank variety) then, take a good close look at these pics & you'll see some very good reasons. When they run a monorail or railway line the full length of it & impose a total ban on vehicles there'll be the grand daddy of all outcries; "we don't do any damage" "responsible useage by 4WDs" & so on, but in reality, this kind of caper is done on a daily basis & this is mild in comparison to many other activities such as dune racing, dune jumping and doing donuts on the beach, this seems to be common practice with backpackers & Urban weekend warriors.
There was a holding yard about 5klms from my place & it used to carry on an average of about 20 Troopies from the hire companies, mostly rolled over or submerged and the local panelbeaters used to just feed from the yard & as fast as they could clear half a dozen there'd be another dozen waiting to take their places. Half in the yard, the rest out on the street. The council eventually made them shift it as it gave the appearance of a wrecking yard; Oh forgot to ask; anybody looking for a second hand wank tank?? roll_lau roll_lau

    Haakon:
    Well said Alan.
Thought you might appreciate that one Haakon.
In your profession, you'd be almost as aware as those of us who live near this treasure what the volume of damage is being inflicted on this pristine area.
Be nice to think we could keep it for a few more years, preferrably a few more generations, but at present, I don't like our chances.

    Alan S cheers!
