My N3 GTI6 Conversion is Complete(Pics and Specs)

Yesterday I finally got to take the Pug home. Its been a long time almost 2 months wait but it was well worth it.
The car is better than I would ever of imaged it and feels so quick its a completely different beast now.

There are a few minor things that need fixing such as electrics (wipers and interior lights) and the car could use a good cut and polish but other than that its pretty much done.

The GTI6 front bar and wing are on and look fantastic the car sits alot lower now with a more aggressive look.

The performance? I cannot believe how quick the car is now it blew me away. It hits 70kmph in 1st gear and 110kmph in 2nd. It chirps into 2nd gear too with sticky 205/40/ZR17 Bridgestone GRID-2 rubber and I just know Im going to risk loosing my license in this car. It just begs to be hammered everywhere.
The induction note changes at around 5000rpm and the engine just screams to redline. The noise from the inside is like a cross between a WRX boxer motor and a Honda VTECI love it. And the torque.its got so much so low. 5th gear pulls up hills at 60kpmh are no problem

What impressed me even more than the power was the brakes. The car stops on a dime now and just throws you forward I didn't install the ABS cause I prefer threashold braking plus the ABS is excess weight I dont want.

Basically the whole car is a GTi now. The things that have been swaped are
    -Engine + Tranny
    -Driveshafts and related drivetrain components
    -Front suspension compenents
    -Whole GTi6 rear end
    -The front and rear brakes
-The Radiator, thermo fans and all the other ancilleries
    -GTi6 Computer and wiring loom

    Interior
    -Door trims front and back
    -Boot carpet
    -Front and rear seats
    -Whole Dash
    -Dash cluster ect
    -Gear shifter

    Exterior
    -GTi6 front bar
    -GTi6 Rear Wing

Today I took the car to a weight bridge. Now I dont know how accurate these are but it read 1220kg with me in the car I was pretty pissed off cause I was expecting it to be lighter. As soon as I got home I weighed myself and Im around 70kg with clothes and shoes ect. That means the car is about 1150kg in full street trim with fluids and spare Tyre plus other stuff like Melways CDs etc. Im not too sure how much the stock GTi6 15 rims weight but ill soon weight them. Then ill weight my 17 for comparison. Hopefully with the stock 15 rims on the car will be around 1120-1130kg??

As soon as I get a chance I will take the car to Calder or Heathcote and run the mile. If I get a low 15 or a high 14 sec ill be rapt. Ill probably run on the 15 rims for that but need some good rubber for traction off the line.

For comparison last night I had a few quick runs with my friends Series 2 205GTi. His is in mint condition and I think is a 92 or 93 model. I bogged my launch but by the top of 1st gear I was 2 car lengths ahead. By 2nd gear it looked like he was standing still. I used to race his car when I had my old motor and he used to beat me easily.

Anyways Ive rambled on too long I dunno its just been exciting fanging the little pug around today and yesterday. Here are some pics of the pug in its finished state.

GTi6 brakes now actually fill out my wheel arches and look good with the 17"s wheras the stock XR brakes looked pissweak. Discs at the rear look good too.

Well done, and I hope you never need the ABS you've dispensed with. My 306(XSi) was my first encounter with ABS, and while it pulled me up 10cm too late the only time I really needed it, I never quite got over the urge to disconnect it after the first time I leaned on it while running downhill on gravel ... eek!

    great lookn conversion head_ban

    well done, kiddo.

tell us what shes like to drive once youve put some miles behind her.

itd be great to have a comparo bw her and a stocky gti6.

better still just rock up to our cruise on the 17th soz we can oogle the **** out of it... she just brings me to tears cry .

    double thumbs up.

anyone know if the gti6 has the same rigidity to more placid 306s? i.e. same no. of welds, etc, etc.

Hey WRC, was the N5 front bar a easy fit onto the N3 body? Did you get the front bar of the gti6 or do you buy one?

What is the future on the old shoddy 1.8 8V, are you going to give it the death it deserves ahahahahah ?

Do you still have the seats from the N3 cause i may need to replace my ones when i sell it due to cigarette burns?

Nice job well done. This is the sort of thing that the rice boys could learn from - it looks good (without being over the top)and it goes hard. Very impressed.

Thanks for the comments guys im really happy with the car. Its pretty much a brand new car and feels so different. The GTi6 only had 40,000kms on the clock too wheras my old motor had 90,000kms so thats a bonus too

As for the ABS yes me too i hope i dont need it....i did lock the brakes up the pther night but i was being a bit of a tool jumping on the brakes to see how well she pulled up. That Jim Murcott driver training day i did a few years ago has sure helped me many times though.

Pugjet....hell yes ill be at the cruise next sunday i cant wait. You can have a closer look there.

Mmmm N5 Front bar....it is a bit different like the mounting pints. Also because N5 bonnet is different shape there is a big gap between the grille and the front bar. This will soon be recitified by a panelbeater. I can show you on sunday at the AZM cruise

I think ive only got 1 XR seat because the frame from the drivers one had to be used to repair the GTi6 drivers seat. I do have the seat lining and cover though but the frame is missing.

As for the 8V Regan Motors offered $1500 for it so i may take them up on that offer.....oh no wait damn you Andreas you gave away my GTO Engine conversion whats better than a Twin Turbo V6.........a 1.8 SOHC 77kw motor roll_lau

It's a 2000 model, so I think that means it's a 16V. I think only the first year of 206s in Australia had the 8V (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

You never know, those GTi badges are pretty affordable

I've even see a 406 GTi in Melbourne. It's got more GTi badges than a 206 GTi!!!

Yeah I didn't think that sounded right. Might be like some of the 504 GTi's which are running around. It's amazing the difference a cheap badge can make to the performance . I should know, I removed all mine to save weight .

hehe i hate badges...i took all mine off ages ago and although it tempting to put the GTI badges on my car now i dont think i will i like it better without badges keeps ppl guessing.

I want that sleeper look and i cannot wait for the day a REAL N5 GTi6 pulls up to me at the lights. His thoughts will be "stupid Ricey 306 GTi6 wannabe" hehe.

My my wont he be in for a surprise

BTW how fast are 205GTis? 0-100?
