Drove a Volvo S80 twin turbo

yep, they definantly built these for the yanks - big, ugly, soggy ride and utterly dead steering. Goes pretty good though . traction control not very subtle when the second turbo kicks in off the lights to quell the tyre smoking - it pretty much shuts the engine down, then it kicks in again with power to be shut down again when the wheels start to light up again .
Whilst the steering is overly light with zero road feel, they did a good job at minimising torque (of which there is a lot...) steer.

Not a car to own out of warrenty. the amount of electronic gizmos (like built in phone - sim card in the boot, elctric EVERYTHING, heated seats, dual zone climate, abs, traction, etc, etc, etc) is a bit scary. My aunt has it - she paid ~$50k for it 2 years old - $110k new. Thats depreciation eek!

I've driven the new SUV (XC90) fitted with the same twin-turbo inline 6. I liked the engine, really quite peppy and sounded good too (although not as smooth as their 5 cylinder engines). Volvos do tend to have fairly dead steering, but keep in mind they are meant to be luxury cars, not fun-mobiles like our froggies and some of the BMWs. I think they do what they were designed to do really well.
