Going to look at a 205 today (edit: it was sold, looked at another)

    205 link

Not sure if anyone knows anything, but its at Australian Vehicle Locators
    129 Buckhurst Street
    South Melbourne
    VIC 3205

And the old man has agreed if it is good, to pay for it, and then sell my volvo and pay him back. Which is good, because the inconvenience wont be so high.

The car looks nice, only has 117,000kms, and is an 89, not sure about S1/2 though, do S2 have the 15s? My pug history isnt quite up to date at the moment, but from memory the 90kw engine was in the s2/3s with the 15" wheels?

    Thanks

It looks in good condition from the photos.

It looks like a s1 but it says it has 4 wheel discs. The series 1 had drum rear brakes. It also has the series 1 14" wheels.

Being an 89 I'd say its a bit of a crossover between the series 1 and 2.

sorry about the link, but yeah, go to carsales and search for 205s in melbourne, if you want to have a look.

it does look clean, and the colour is certainly growing on me... seems like good value too. is there anyway to know if it has the 90kw engine?

The drive to WA, assuming i get a 205, will be done in a EFII falcon sedan we have sitting at home. Its the spare, and I've got the ok to take it...

    Looks wild!!
Such low km's and a low price tag.
I would say it is a series 1, but the ad at carsales says it has disc brakes all round

Make sure you get a mechanic to check it out, being so cheap with only 113k it may have been smashed. Then again it may be a pearler, but just be careful cause i have bought excellent condition 205's and still had to spend $3000 on repairs for roadworthy. cry
    Good luck!!

if you want the 90kw version with discs all round then i don't understand why you don't take a flight to brissy and buy Simon's sorrento green S3.

I agree, for the $150 air fare it will be money well spent.
PS how can you tell the blue 205 is a series 2?
    I thought 1989 was series 1??
Not sure, still in the dark about the series 1, 2, 3 differences..

    guessed based on the following:

Colour Metallized blue gray (gris futura) related to pre-1989 and was replaced by "Metallised light gray (gris graphite)" (car in question) which was released 1989 - 1990 (grey/red interior).

S2 cars designated by the round heater dials whiched commenced in 89; oh and the rear reflector panel "option" came in; plus the addition of discs to rear brakes.

I think the add mentioned discs all round.

Note: i think the gear box pattern on S1 cars has reverse "to the left and up".

...... or i could be completely wrong in relation to all of this stuff

Well that lovely little blue 205 was sold the day i was supposed to be seeing it. I went and drove a white one at South City Holden. 230,000kms, white, $7990. pricey, but it has about $3k worth of mechanical work done to it. Its reasonably clean for the money, and is also packing a momo steering wheel. It's not bad, but i'd really prefer a few less kms, and not the cloth sunroof it has.

    Nick,

mate you can buy Simon's 1992 S3 with 1/2 leather for 7.5 neg. (as advertised on this forum) This seems to be a great car and well kept - which can be evidenced by full service history. I'd buy an S3 over a pre-92 car any day.

if noone buys it - i'm tempted 2 even though i already own a 1993 model.

I'd love to buy it, does anyone know anyone in brisbane (RAC, etc.) who does decent mechanical inspections. I mean, even with a $300+ mechanical inspection, and a $200 flight, i'm still only looking at $8k, which is still well within my price range. Hmm, I might have to start doing some investigation on how I can do this...
