>1.What percentage of adult Australians age 18-65 would you say have visited the USA?

i dunno maybe 3-5%? maybe that's a bit much

>2.If you guys were to visit the USA what American car would you most like to drive for a week?

i'll take the Corvette thanks. (If you're doing to do the American car thing, you may as well do it properly! )

>3. I have heard that a lot of Australians don't like Americans and most Americans don't even realize it. When I finally get over there how should I act or not act?

I think a lot of the ill feeling comes from the small minority of prick tourists who trumpet on that they are Americans and that they own the world.

>4.What are some delicious foods I should try that most tourists never get to eat?

no idea, I just eat what is convenient.

1.What percentage of adult Australians age 18-65 would you say have visited the USA?

No idea. 10%??

2.If you guys were to visit the USA what American car would you most like to drive for a week?

A Ford SVT Mustang Cobra R, thankyou very much. Failing that I think a Ford Crown Victoria, see how it compares to a Commodore or Falcon.

3. I have heard that a lot of Australians don't like Americans and most Americans don't even realize it. When I finally get over there how should I act or not act?

Just don't go around with the 'American Superiority' attitude and you'll be right. Just be yourself. Also, some words have very different meanings across the Pacific (eg. "Who are you rooting for?" can be easily misinterpreted)

4.What are some delicious foods I should try that most tourists never get to eat?

Try some Vietnamese food - it's cheap and quite good. Rice noodle soups and vermicelli are the ones to go for. You can get some REAL coffee over here Fresh seafood in some towns is to die for.

1.What percentage of adult Australians age 18-65 would you say have visited the USA?

Yeah, 3-5% sounds about right.

2.If you guys were to visit the USA what American car would you most like to drive for a week?

Any 50's V8 I could find - Lincoln Cosmopolitan?

3. I have heard that a lot of Australians don't like Americans and most Americans don't even realize it. When I finally get over there how should I act or not act?

Don't use the word 'Fanny' too liberally. Be yourself. Don't talk as loud as most Americans coming here seem to

4.What are some delicious foods I should try that most tourists never get to eat?[/QUOTE]

Emu, crocodile, kangaroo, etc. is all coming on stream now. Not too sure about the delicious, though...

Cheers

1. Not Sure.

2. Can't bear to sit in one, let alone a week! How does a country that sends man to the moon, builds the best weapons, computers and dominates world's economy build the worst cars?

3. I think people see to much 'Hollywood' culture and see it as representing America and resent that. Personally, I quite admire the 'states.

4. I think America has everything Australia has. Can't suggest anything. Wichity Grubs?

James,

#1 Maybe 3%-5% but of those some have had multiple visits, hence probably closer to 3%
#2 Probably a Corvette but don't think I could adjust to driving on the "wrong" side of the road :p
#3 I think a lot of people judge Americans by New Yorkers (a'la Danny Devito on a bad day) Being from Jersey your accent would not be as abrasive or your voice as annoyingly loud as a New Yorker can tend to be. If you get called a "Seppo" that's a term of endearment. It's short for "Septic Tank" which rhymes with "Yank" so don't feel offended.
#4 It's a bit hard to know what tourists normally eat, but for sure I would say if you get to Queensland try a Mud Crab; top tucker for anyone. Also if you do the tourist circuit over, try some of the avacado, ginger, macadamia and specialised foods found in places like the "Big" attractions; Big Pineapple, Big Avocado, Big Prawn etc.

Hope you have a good one
