    Quiet in here!

Does anybody have any trouble with the speed of this site?
Being a US based server it's seems to have it's days
I have broadband so I don't notice slow access like bush basher's might.
Was thinking of hopping across to a local server as they are getting very competitive $$ here now.
I would like to upgrade the board to the latest version as it has very useful features (+ some other ones that aren't so that we could turn off).
Last time I brought this up it was not taken too well
    Just some thoughts

    gibgib,

It seems to work well for me, but I would
welcome any improvement that you can make.

    hi gibgib,

Your server is much faster than the Citroen bulletin board's one (I suspect it is all its horrible ads that slow it down!).

For us mere mortals with dial-up connections it is reasonably fast, but any improvements in speed or features are always welcome.

    Keep up the good work.

    Paul

I might look at an upgrade in the near future but don't want to scare anyone off in the process.

One of the major features with the new version is not having to put your username & password in everytime. Once you login, you never have to login again on that PC. The board automatically recognises you when you return.
All the codes & stuff are entered with a click of a button (includes smilies), so this should allow everyone to take advantage of the 'now' tricky bits

Paul, I think the advertisement on the Citroen Bulletin Board has a timer on it so you stare at the Casino ad before it loads the messages.

I went through the Citroen insideweb message archive on the weekend & noted that comments were made that this board is slow & difficult to use so I thought I might try to correct

Good to hear the speed is now adequate

    gibgib,

You know what my situation is here in the back blocks but I don't have a real lot of problems with speed. Everything is a bit slow here (including yours truly at times ) so it probably won't make a real big difference from my perspective. Having said that, I have no objections with a change for the better. I think when it was first suggested the board had 100 members registered & heading for 200 but it has got a gallop up since then & is now established enough to stand the change which I don't think it would have done in its infancy.
BTW - can we make 500 by the end of September ???????

By and large, this is the slowest of the bulletin boards I use... yes, notably slower than - for instance - ten-tenths or Atlas F1.

We get an average of 4-5 new members a day but it's lucky if one of them posts on the forum.
Perhaps they get lost along the way?
I'd imagine this board is a bit scary for an internet beginner so anything to make it simpler would be an advantage.

Ray, what connection do you have? Where are the other sites based?

I was looking locally for a server (also locally based).
These guys are cheap enough but I can't see where they base their equipment:

It's an Aussie company by the looks....

    Hi Gibgib,

do you have the space to setup the upgraded forum somewhere for us to check it out?? That's probably a lot of work though.

I find this site can get slow, but then again the link here where I work gets max'd out a lot (even though it's big, I think were going to microwave soon...).
