Default Spy News - Melbourne Motor Show

News fresh in from the pre preview of MMS. I have received 2 MMS's from pajamas in the last 20 minutes. One shows a fancy black cover over some long vehicle underneath a big Citroen sign, wonder what it could be????

The other shows a flashed up blue car with go fast stripes on the Renault stand. Mug lairs I reckon

The black cover comes off first car at midday today. Now I reckon in about 6 years I should just about be able to afford one of those cars....

I'm not. No free tickets, no limo to the airport, first class tickets etc etc. WHAT is the world coming to?

Besides, I saw enough of them in Paris

Well surprise surprise. The car under the black cover was a C6! It seems to arrive with a blonde model in a black evening dress too. That would be an expensive option to maintain.

pajamas (aka 003 1/2) is on the case and has sent MORE MMSs. I would hate to see his next mobile bill

why is the bloody melb motorshow on already!??

It usually co-insides with the F1 GP.... I knwot he GP is happening about a month later this year, I would have thought it would be wise to put the motorshow on at the same time...I would think the crowds will be down this eyar, because in previous years, almost all the inerstate people in town for the F1 used to go the motorshow on friday or sat' nights... Oh well... I'll miss it this year.

Not bad, and certainly a fair bit cheaper than the Golf GTI. It must be that Volvo engine.

Yep. I sort of expected it to undercut the Golf, but not by this much! It's knocking on the door of the hot hatch price range, so it should be interesting to see how it sells.

    Here's an interesting comparo;

    1987
    Ford Laser TX3 Turbo 4wd - $25910
Ford Falcon XF GL Auto 4.1 - $18883
    Citroen BX 19 TRI Auto - $41500

    2006
    Ford Focus XR5 - $35990
    Ford Falcon Futura - $39175
    Citroen C5 2.0 Auto - $41990

...003 and a half reporting in Moneypenny...

I've got a couple of copies of the press kit with photo's of the entire Citroen range.

I'm in the process of uploading the C6 press kit photo's to:

    http://pajamas.smugmug.com/gallery/1190243

but I think that they are the ones that have been available for some time on the web anyway. It will take some time, so check back leter tonight or tomorrow!!

Let me know if you want the press photo's of the other vehicles in the Citroen range posted similarly. (Again, these are probably already available somewhere....)

    First impressions:

It's definitely an executive transporter. Rear Air controls, rear electric seats (part of a optional special package), rear passenger can move front seat from a switch on the door etc.

    Ash trays in each door!

    Rear seats surprisingly firm.

Some of the things I didn't like in the photo's don't stand out as much in the flesh. i.e. I thought the front fender was a little heavy handed in the photo's.

Storage in the cabin works, well, differently. XM owners will probably feel right at home.

Will be on sale in third quarter 2006. Prices not yet set.

Despite entering a fierce segment of the market, they want to sell more than 1 a month, as they did with the XM (meaning that there will be enought second hand examples to go around in a couple of years!)

    Anyway, just my thoughts.

Oh, and I fiddled with a black C4 VTS. Lovely!

Thanks for the write-up and pictures, Paul. The C6 is the car I'm most looking forward to this year for sure!

    Are you in Melbourne long?

    Tim.

Heading down to Apollo Bay for the weekend.

Thought this would be a great spot to wring the jetlag out of my just-arrived-from-London sibling and sister-in-law.

    I suspect it won't be $100,000
Someone tried to convince me that was the price though!

I've seen a brochure of the C6, one of the classiest I've ever seen - a book, very nicely done.

What, no DSG? Oops sorry wrong brand.

You have pay extra for paint? No wonder it is so well priced.
